Job description
The Senior Manager ā Watersports role within the Sports and Entertainment Company operates between the RSSE General Manager and multiple project sites, with responsibility for supporting the development, concept creation, and operational roll-out of all water sportsārelated tourism assets and their associated business functions. The role supports the RSSE General Manager and works closely with the Director of Sports & Adventure to enhance project outcomes across the Red Sea Development Project. The position is accountable for supervising water sports facilities and teams, ensuring all activities are delivered in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures, and establishing internal operational teams to manage and operate water sports assets. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with Delivery, Health & Safety, Legal, Asset Management, and Operational General Management teams, engagement with third-party service providers, international equipment manufacturers, and local or regional distributors, and oversight of training, certification, safety audits, and continuous professional development. The role also includes responsibility for sustainability alignment, project planning, reporting, presentations, database management, and internal and external communications, with potential remote work requirements across RSSE project locations.

Key responsibilities
- Support the RSSE General Manager in the development and operational roll-out of all water sportsārelated tourism assets
- Assist the Cluster Manager of WAMA in managing all phases of water sportsārelated projects
- Collaborate with Delivery Teams to develop and deliver stand-alone water sports centres aligned with the wider marine leisure and entertainment portfolio
- Work with Health & Safety and Legal teams to develop policies, procedures, and secure operational licenses
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in water sports across multiple disciplines
- Develop, manage, and support the roll-out and ongoing delivery of Standard Operating Procedures for water sports activities
- Liaise with third-party service providers to deliver specialist training for water sports programs
- Work with Asset Management to monitor and manage operator standards
- Supervise water sports teams and ensure compliance with operational and safety standards
- Engage with international manufacturers and regional distributors for equipment procurement, maintenance, and replacement
- Conduct specialist safety audits and program delivery evaluations alongside third-party experts
- Establish and oversee internal operational teams and divisional management of water sports business outlets
- Plan and deliver continued professional development sessions for water sports staff in collaboration with the Operational General Manager
- Ensure water sports programs align with sustainability objectives outlined in the project master plan
- Coordinate with Director of Sports & Adventure and project leaders to integrate water sports elements into development projects
- Attend project meetings, develop detailed project plans, track progress, and update project databases
- Create and maintain project presentations, site visit survey reports, and departmental databases
- Collate departmental communications and content for internal and external media publications
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor degree in a relevant field
- Possess a minimum of 6 years of experience in water sports activities, hospitality, or related fields
- Hold Advanced Powerboat or Safety Boat certification
- Hold a VHF Radio Operatorās License
- Be qualified as a Water Sports Health & Safety Officer
- Demonstrate a proven global water sports authority network
- Exhibit proven coach assessment and training skills across marine multi-sports
- Have experience working with large-scale international sports events
- Hold ML, RCI, Paddles Sports Coach, or equivalent highest qualification
- Be a qualified senior instructor and/or dinghy instructor within the last 5 years
- Hold Surf and/or SUP instructor qualifications
- Possess an Outdoor First Aid qualification of at least 16 hours
- Hold additional governing body certifications such as RYA Safety Boat, ERCA, RPIOL, APIOL, RYA Level 2 Powerboating, RYA Advanced Powerboating, or equivalent
- Demonstrate fluency in English, with a second language such as Arabic considered an advantage
