Job description
PMC Senior Construction Engineer (Mechanical) responsible for supervising and managing all mechanical construction activities on ADNOC onshore oil & gas projects in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures execution of EPC contractor works in compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, ADNOC standards, international codes, HSE requirements, and construction schedules. The engineer monitors daily site activities, coordinates with contractors and subcontractors, and ensures adherence to quality assurance processes including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Work Inspection Requests (WIRs), and site inspections. The role involves reviewing contractor construction plans, methodologies, schedules, and resource mobilization while tracking progress and reporting deviations, risks, and mitigation actions to PMC leadership. The position requires strong interface coordination with engineering, procurement, HSE, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project execution. The engineer enforces strict HSE compliance through safety audits, toolbox talks, incident investigations, and risk assessments, including authority to stop unsafe work. Responsibilities include contractor performance management, productivity monitoring, quantity verification for progress measurement, and resolution of site execution issues. The role also includes maintaining accurate construction records, daily reporting, preparation support for weekly and monthly progress reports, and contribution to as-built and final handover documentation. This is a senior PMC site-based leadership role requiring strong mechanical construction expertise in large-scale oil & gas or petrochemical projects.

Key responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor all onshore mechanical construction activities on ADNOC projects
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules
- Coordinate daily site activities with EPC contractors and subcontractors
- Review contractor construction plans, methodologies, schedules, and resource mobilization
- Track construction progress and report deviations, risks, and mitigation actions
- Interface with engineering, procurement, HSE, and commissioning teams
- Ensure implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
- Review and approve Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) and technical queries
- Enforce HSE policies and stop unsafe work practices
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety audits, and participate in incident investigations
- Monitor contractor performance and productivity on site
- Verify quantities for progress measurement and reporting
- Maintain daily site records and construction progress reports
- Support preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports
- Contribute to as-built documentation and project handover dossiers
- Resolve construction issues in coordination with contractors and engineering teams
- Ensure materials and workmanship comply with project quality standards
- Ensure compliance with international codes and standards
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 15 years of mechanical construction experience
- At least 5–7 years of PMC or consultant experience
- Experience in onshore oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, or industrial projects
- Strong knowledge of mechanical construction practices
- Familiarity with international codes such as ACI, BS, ASTM, and Eurocodes
- Experience managing multiple contractors in site environments
- Experience with project scheduling and construction reporting systems
- Strong leadership and site coordination skills
- Excellent communication and reporting abilities
- Ability to manage construction execution under tight schedules
- Strong HSE awareness and enforcement capability
- Experience in EPC project environments
- Ability to work in onshore site-based roles
