The Associate Director – Planning at Mace in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is a senior leadership role within the Project & Programme Management domain, responsible for driving planning excellence across medium- to high-complexity construction and hospitality projects. The role involves overseeing planning strategies, verifying tenders, monitoring schedules, and ensuring profitable project delivery while embedding safety, compliance, and sustainability into all planning activities. The Associate Director leads planning teams, fostering continuous improvement, mentoring talent, and promoting inclusive collaboration across projects, sectors, and strategic programmes. This position requires close collaboration with architects, global consultants, and internal project teams to deliver high-value infrastructure and built assets. The role champions client-focused delivery, strategic outcome influence, and alignment with Mace’s values of safety, integrity, and continuous opportunity creation. The Associate Director also supports business development initiatives, monitors KPIs, and drives operational excellence in complex, multi-sector project portfolios.

Key responsibilities
- Lead planning across medium- to high-complexity projects and portfolios, ensuring schedules are accurate, feasible, and aligned with strategic KPIs and project objectives.
- Direct planning performance and scheduling, verifying tenders, monitoring progress, and driving profitable project delivery while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
- Develop, mentor, and mobilize planning teams to foster talent, promote collaboration, and ensure continuous improvement across projects, hubs, sectors, and strategic programmes.
- Collaborate with project teams, architects, and consultants to coordinate complex project deliverables, ensuring resources, timelines, and dependencies are managed effectively.
- Embed sustainability, safety, and regulatory compliance into planning strategies, ensuring all projects adhere to environmental, legal, and corporate standards.
- Build strong stakeholder networks across clients, contractors, and internal teams, influencing strategic outcomes and ensuring alignment with Mace’s project objectives and values.
- Support business development initiatives, providing planning expertise to proposals, bids, and strategic planning discussions for new projects and programmes.
- Supervise planning strategy and delivery, monitor performance metrics, and implement process improvements to drive operational excellence and enhance project portfolio outcomes.
Experience & skills
- Degree in Construction or a related discipline, with chartered status or actively working towards accreditation.
- Proven leadership experience in planning complex, multi-sector construction and infrastructure projects, including high-value developments.
- Expertise in planning tools, schedule management, and contract administration relevant to large-scale project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage planning teams, mentor staff, and foster continuous improvement and high-performance culture.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills to influence project outcomes and maintain client-focused delivery.
- Knowledge of safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance requirements within the construction and project management industry.
- Experience working on high-value projects/programmes for project management consultancy businesses, with relevant visa eligibility for Saudi Arabia.
- Ability to support business development efforts, including tender verification, KPI monitoring, and strategic planning input.
