Job description
Masdar is seeking a Senior Expert - Electrical & HV to provide technical leadership across all grid-related and electrical aspects of its Clean Energy projects globally. This role will be responsible for high-level electrical design, grid integration, technical evaluation, and support during development and implementation phases of renewable energy projects including solar PV, wind, BESS, and waste-to-energy plants. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in HV systems, international standards, RfP development, and stakeholder coordination, with a focus on innovation, compliance, and cost optimization.

Key responsibilities
- Deliver technical support on grid connection and electrical design of renewable energy plants.
- Manage electrical engineering activities for Clean Energy projects.
- Design cost-optimized High Voltage solutions for renewable energy transactions.
- Develop project screening methodology and perform technical due diligence assessments.
- Conduct preliminary and conceptual HV interface design for components including substations, OHTL, cables, SCADA, and DCS.
- Liaise with contractors and design professionals to resolve technical and construction issues.
- Support project delivery teams in planning, scheduling, and monitoring of electrical scopes.
- Prepare electrical chapters for RfPs and technical tender documentation.
- Lead technical evaluations of vendor bids and define selection criteria for consultants.
- Oversee contract activities related to electrical components including substations, transformers, SCMS, and remote-end modifications.
- Ensure electrical requirements are clearly defined in contracts for HV operation of renewable projects.
- Review technical design during implementation and support major maintenance activities.
- Ensure communication with advisors and compliance with operational procedures.
- Maintain networks and engage with stakeholders for knowledge transfer and project alignment.
- Develop standardized forms and processes in accordance with Masdarās policies.
- Produce management reports and updates as required by leadership.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās Degree in Electrical Engineering (Masterās preferred).
- Chartered Engineer status (IET, EUR Ing, PEng) desirable.
- Minimum 6 years in renewable energy engineering (solar, wind) and 10 years overall engineering experience.
- Experience in grid integration of conventional and renewable energy plants.
- Proficiency in ETAP, Dig Silent, AutoCAD, Primavera.
- Thorough knowledge of international codes and standards.
- Demonstrated experience in technical RfP preparation and EPC vendor evaluations.
- Strong understanding of SCADA, DCS, transmission lines, and HV infrastructure.
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards and hazardous area classification.
- Ability to work in dynamic and diverse environments, prioritizing actions under pressure.
