Job description
The Market Access Director - Gulf at Johnson & Johnson is responsible for leading the regional market access strategy to secure product reimbursement and ensure timely and optimal market entry across the Gulf countries (UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman). This senior leadership position plays a pivotal role in developing comprehensive value and pricing strategies that align with both therapeutic area and market needs. The director oversees all market access and health economics activities, including reimbursement submissions, value dossier development, payer negotiations, and the implementation of patient affordability and private health insurance (PHI) programs. Working closely with cross-functional teamsāCommercial, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs, and Business Financeāthe role ensures alignment of market access initiatives with corporate objectives. The director also represents Johnson & Johnson in government and industry forums, advocating for value-based healthcare policies and reimbursement frameworks. As a member of the Gulf Leadership Team, the role contributes to strategic decision-making, long-range financial planning, and policy shaping to drive patient access and business growth in the region. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in health economics, strong leadership skills, and extensive experience in emerging markets within multinational pharmaceutical environments.

Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive market access and reimbursement strategies across Gulf countries for Janssen products
- Ensure successful product reimbursement and inclusion in all healthcare sectors and payer lists
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including payers, hospitals, health funders, and clinicians
- Lead pricing strategy and oversee value proposition to ensure patient access and commercial success
- Drive patient affordability and private health insurance initiatives to expand market penetration
- Lead health economics and market access activities including preparation of value dossiers, health outcomes research, and evidence generation
- Collaborate with clinicians and stakeholders to develop high-quality evidence supporting product reimbursement
- Manage and contribute to health technology assessments and reimbursement submissions
- Represent Johnson & Johnson in government and industry committees to influence healthcare policy towards value-based assessments
- Lead and develop Strategic Account Managers to optimize patient journey and ensure sustainable access
- Contribute to Gulf Leadership Team discussions on business planning, pricing, and long-term strategic initiatives
- Provide insights on reimbursement mechanisms, healthcare system updates, and emerging market dynamics
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Life Sciences or related discipline; postgraduate qualification preferred
- 7ā10+ years of experience in the Innovative Medicine sector, with at least 3 years in Market Access
- Strong leadership and team development experience with ability to motivate and inspire within a multinational environment
- Proven success in securing product reimbursement and executing pricing strategies in emerging markets
- Extensive experience working with payers, regulators, and healthcare providers across the Gulf region
- Deep understanding of health economics, outcomes research, and value-based healthcare models
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and policymakers
- Ability to navigate complex, matrixed organizational structures and drive cross-functional collaboration
- Fluency in English required; Arabic language skills are an advantage
