Job description
The Field Specialist β Drilling Services (MWD β Measuring While Drilling) at Baker Hughes in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia is responsible for delivering drilling services at the well site using advanced drilling technologies including Measuring While Drilling (MWD) and Logging While Drilling (LWD). Baker Hughes is a global energy technology company providing solutions to energy and industrial customers in more than 120 countries with technologies designed to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability across the energy sector. In this role, the Field Specialist supports the Drilling Services portfolio by providing technical resolution to moderately complex problems encountered at the well site where analysis of operational situations or drilling data requires evaluation of multiple technical factors. The role involves developing and demonstrating proficiency required for delivering Logging While Drilling services and directional drilling services at the well site as part of well construction operations. The position requires applying knowledge of wellbore placement techniques and collision avoidance practices in relation to Measuring While Drilling operations to ensure safe and accurate drilling trajectories. The Field Specialist also develops knowledge of drilling hydraulics and performs torque and drag simulations used to optimize drilling performance and minimize mechanical risks during drilling operations. Responsibilities include supervising good operational practices related to Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) handling and make-up procedures while ensuring correct assembly and operation of drilling tools. The role also involves understanding and applying well construction technologies such as Hydraulic Expandable Reamers and Circulation Sub tools that support drilling efficiency and wellbore integrity. The Field Specialist completes advanced technical training and structured well site development programs designed to build technical expertise in drilling operations and drilling technology deployment. The role requires strong collaboration with field teams to support safe and efficient drilling operations while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the drilling services organization. The position operates in customer well site environments across the region and follows customer operational schedules during active drilling projects, with the opportunity for extended leave periods between project assignments.
