Job description
The Senior Specialist, Scheme Relationships at Checkout.com in Dubai is responsible for managing and growing partnerships with Acquiring Banks, APMs, and card networks including Visa and Mastercard. The role contributes to strategy development and execution for partnerships while acting as a subject matter expert on payments operations. Responsibilities include negotiating commercial agreements, managing partner relationships, designing and improving operational processes for efficiency and scalability, collaborating across internal functions (relationship management, business development, risk, compliance, product, operations), and driving expansion projects across geographies and payment methods. The role requires a hands-on approach, payments expertise, strategic and data-driven problem solving, and the ability to work effectively in a globally distributed, cross-cultural team.

Key responsibilities
- Manage commercial relationships with Acquiring Banks, APMs, and Card Networks to deliver market-leading payment solutions
- Drive expansion projects across geographies and payment methods in collaboration with internal teams
- Negotiate operational and commercial agreements with partners while balancing stakeholder interests
- Ensure compliance with existing processes and develop new scalable processes for partnership growth and efficiency
- Collaborate with internal teams such as relationship management, business development, risk, compliance, product, and operations across all levels
- Develop and execute a partnership management model as the single point of contact for assigned partnerships
- Use payments industry knowledge to develop and execute strategies supporting growth with new products, services, and markets
- Craft and implement win-win commercial agreements and go-to-market strategies with payment partners
- Act as a subject matter expert on partner capabilities to support internal teams and decision-making
Experience & skills
- At least 3 years experience in payments
- Direct experience in payment processing, acquiring, or managing payment partnerships
- Proficient in payments knowledge, able to problem solve and identify blockers in payment flows
- Experience working with card networks or PSPs for acquiring payment transactions
- Combination of operations, project management, and relationship management skills
- Strong ownership mindset to deliver business results and manage partner relationships
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to influence stakeholders internally and externally
- Data-driven, analytical, and strategic in problem solving and identifying growth opportunities
- Ability to work across time zones and cultures in a globally distributed team
