Job description
The Field E&I Engineer – Site (Habshan) role with Wood in Abu Dhabi is a senior on-site engineering position supporting large-scale greenfield and brownfield oil and gas EPC projects. The role focuses on Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) design and field engineering activities, ensuring full compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and engineering best practices. The position supports high-profile energy sector clients across the Middle East and Africa, contributing to maintenance, operations, asset management, modifications, and engineering services. The engineer is responsible for establishing design bases, developing technical specifications and engineering philosophies, preparing work scopes and tender documents, reviewing and checking engineering designs and calculations, and supporting risk assessments and system evaluations to ensure integrity, reliability, and safety. The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including construction, maintenance, and multi-disciplinary engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution, cost optimization, and performance improvement across oil and gas facilities.

Key responsibilities
- Perform Electrical and Instrumentation design and field engineering activities for large greenfield and brownfield oil and gas EPC projects
- Establish design basis documents, technical specifications, engineering philosophies, and detailed work scopes for project execution
- Prepare and review tender documents and technical narratives related to E&I scope
- Review engineering designs and perform checking of electrical and instrumentation calculations
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and engineering best practices in design and site execution
- Conduct risk assessments and system evaluations to maintain asset integrity, reliability, and safety
- Collaborate with construction, maintenance, and multi-disciplinary engineering teams to support seamless project execution
- Support implementation of innovative engineering solutions to optimize performance and reduce project and operational costs
Experience & skills
- Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrument Engineering
- Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience working on oil and gas EPC projects
- Demonstrate experience in Electrical and Instrumentation design and on-site field engineering for greenfield and brownfield projects
- Exhibit knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods
- Demonstrate understanding of inter-discipline coordination and related construction practices within oil and gas projects
- Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with multi-disciplinary and multinational teams
