Job description
The Senior Process Technician (Dairy Processing Equipment Maintenance) at SADAFCO in Dammam, Saudi Arabia is responsible for ensuring all process equipment within the dairy manufacturing facility operates in excellent condition. The role covers a wide range of dairy process systems including fresh milk reception and mixing systems, pipes, pumps, vacuum systems, valves and valve clusters, pasteurizers, UHT systems, homogenizers, heat exchangers, tanks, agitators, filtration systems, transfer lines, and CIP systems. The position focuses on executing preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) activities to enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), reduce maintenance conversion costs, minimize wastage, and eliminate quality failures and customer complaints. The technician performs routine inspections using checklists and established inspection procedures, ensuring compliance with maintenance manuals, manufacturer recommendations, and operational standards. The role includes developing and improving PM plans and schedules, managing spare parts procurement and installation, and ensuring proper coordination with cross-functional departments including projects, spare parts stores, planning, production, and quality. The position requires strong understanding of automation systems, electromechanical systems such as motors and sensors, and the ability to read P&IDs, flow charts, maintenance manuals (MMs), and electrical manuals (EMs). Responsibilities include monitoring maintenance costs, tracking KPIs, reporting abnormal events, and addressing quality, environmental, and safety issues such as breakdowns and product leakages. The technician also supervises installation and commissioning of new equipment, participates in system upgrades, and initiates continuous improvement projects to enhance manufacturing efficiency and safety. The role demands adherence to health and safety and food safety procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards in dairy processing operations while maintaining production continuity and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct daily routine inspections of dairy process equipment including pumps, valves and valve clusters, pasteurizers, UHT systems, homogenizers, heat exchangers, tanks, filtration systems, and CIP systems using checklists and established procedures to ensure optimal operational condition
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) activities in accordance with maintenance manuals, manufacturer recommendations, and technical procedures to maintain system reliability and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Develop, implement, review, and improve PM plans and schedules while coordinating with planning, production, and quality departments to ensure timely execution of maintenance activities
- Provide on-site technical support and respond proactively to equipment breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and continuity of production operations
- Manage spare parts processes including ordering, installation, and inventory coordination while considering delivery timelines, budgets, and equipment specifications
- Monitor, control, and optimize maintenance costs, track KPIs, and record abnormal events in log sheets while escalating critical issues related to quality, performance, environmental, and safety concerns
- Supervise installation, commissioning, and upgrading of new and existing process equipment while ensuring compliance with operational standards and technical specifications
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety and food safety procedures, initiate improvement projects, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and guide, coach, and train new technicians
Experience & skills
- Hold technical education in Mechanics or a related field with an engineering degree considered an advantage and possess 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in dairy process equipment maintenance
- Demonstrate strong expertise in dairy processing systems including pasteurizers, UHT systems, homogenizers, sterilizers, valves, tanks, and high shear mixers with deep understanding of process operations
- Exhibit proficiency in preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) optimization within food manufacturing environments
- Possess solid knowledge of automation systems and electromechanical systems including motors and sensors, with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex equipment
- Demonstrate ability to read and interpret P&IDs, flow charts, maintenance manuals (MMs), and electrical manuals (EMs) for effective maintenance execution
- Show strong understanding of food manufacturing operations, quality standards, and compliance with health and safety and food safety procedures
- Maintain fluency in English and demonstrate capability to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends based on operational requirements
- Exhibit ability to work under pressure, handle deadlines, manage maintenance costs, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment
