Job description
Wood is looking to hire a Specialist - Risk Management Engineer for ADNOC Offshore Central Engineering Division in Abu Dhabi. The role is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks throughout the lifecycle of oil and gas projects. It ensures risk mitigation strategies are embedded in planning and execution to safeguard timelines, budgets, safety, and compliance. The Specialist will develop and manage the Risk Management Plan, integrate risk functions across projects, maintain risk registers, and provide expert support on risk identification, analysis, mitigation, and compliance.

Key responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and manage the Risk Management Plan for ADNOC Offshore projects.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks across oil and gas project lifecycles.
- Facilitate risk reviews and workshops across project phases, ensuring alignment with Group Risk Management Standards.
- Support development of commercial contracts from a risk perspective.
- Schedule and facilitate regular risk reviews and ensure stakeholder alignment on risk tolerance.
- Track treatment actions and analyze their effectiveness.
- Conduct risk assessments on material project changes.
- Support estimating and finance teams in quantifying risks for forecasting and contingency setting.
- Interpret risk analysis and modelling results, providing advice and guidance to managers.
- Liaise with project staff, planning, and cost control teams regarding contingency and forecasting.
- Maintain and update risk registers, ensuring risks are documented and reviewed monthly.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and HSE teams to integrate risk mitigation.
- Report on risk status, trends, and provide input to governance bodies.
- Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory risk standards.
- Prepare lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives in risk management.
- Advise and support risk owners on their responsibilities for managing risks.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management, or related field.
- Master’s degree or certifications (PMI-RMP, Prince2, ISO 31000) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in project risk management, ideally in oil and gas.
- Experience with risk analysis tools such as SAFRAN, Deltek Acumen, Primavera Risk Analysis, @RISK.
- Strong knowledge of project controls, planning, and HSE risk factors.
- Background in statistics, scientific modelling, or financial modelling preferred.
- Ability to undertake qualitative and quantitative risk analysis including Monte Carlo simulations.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to work independently with strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Experience in developing and implementing risk management processes for major capital projects.
