Job description
The Principal Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and technical oversight of port crane electrical systems within DP World. This role serves as the organizationās Subject Matter Expert on electrical engineering across all business segments, ensuring that all crane projects and manufactured products meet electrical design specifications, international standards, and safety regulations. The engineer will provide guidance, mentorship, and innovation in electrical and automation design while driving process optimization, technical excellence, and cost efficiency across crane modernization and new equipment projects.

Experience & skills
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design, automation, or modernization within crane or heavy-industry machinery environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of PLC, VFD, and SCADA systems from Siemens, ABB, and Fuji.
- Proficiency in electrical system design, low-voltage power distribution, and switchgear/substation configurations.
- Experience using AutoCAD Electrical and similar engineering software tools.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical reviews and deliver compliant, efficient designs.
- Familiarity with international electrical design standards (IEC, IEEE, ISO).
- Strong project management, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor engineering teams and act as a subject matter expert across multiple business units.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and ethical engineering practices in accordance with DP Worldās operational standards.
