Job description
The Financial Controller for the Middle East at InterSystems will oversee all finance operations in the UAE and KSA offices. This role ensures accurate accounting records, compliance with regulatory and tax requirements, timely reporting, and effective financial management. The Controller will act as a key liaison with corporate management, auditors, tax advisors, banks, and other stakeholders while managing and developing the local finance team.

Key responsibilities
- Maintain accounting records for UAE and KSA branches according to company policies and standards
- Implement and maintain internal control procedures for finance operations
- Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, and payroll
- Develop and enforce standard accounting and business practices in collaboration with International Controller
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements and management reports
- Analyze financial results, actual vs. budget variances, and provide actionable insights to management
- Prepare and maintain monthly revenue and expense forecasts, annual budgets, and project P&Ls
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies
- Provide regular cash flow forecasts and manage local cash operations
- Review expense reports for policy compliance, VAT, and tax requirements
- Act as primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel on financial matters
- Prepare and file VAT and WHT returns as required
- Oversee risk management related to local finance and compliance issues
- Respond to ad hoc management requests and support other regional branches as needed
- Continuously review systems and processes and recommend improvements
Experience & skills
- 10–15 years of progressive experience in financial management or accounting roles, preferably in multinational companies
- Qualified Accountant with expertise in US GAAP or IFRS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial ERP systems
- Experience managing multi-currency accounting operations
- Strong knowledge of VAT, withholding tax, and other regulatory requirements in UAE and KSA
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience in leading, training, and motivating finance teams
- Fluent in English and Arabic (verbal and written)
- Attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with corporate management, auditors, banks, and external advisors
