Job description
The Associate Director - Retail Development (Real Estate Asset Development) at Al-Futtaim Private Company LLC is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end development of mall and retail real estate projects from conception to completion. The role involves developing and executing strategic development plans aligned with organizational objectives, managing financial performance including budgeting and forecasting, and conducting market analyses to identify new development opportunities. The position requires leading cross-functional teams across finance, design, project management, marketing, and asset management to deliver projects within budget, scope, and schedule. This includes managing all phases of the project lifecycle, maintaining stakeholder relationships, identifying and mitigating project risks, and reporting project progress to senior leadership. The Associate Director will also play a key role in analyzing and structuring complex financial deals, negotiating with partners and vendors, and ensuring the execution of projects meets Al-Futtaimās standards of excellence in quality and sustainability. This position sits within Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate (AFGRE), the real estate development arm of the Al-Futtaim Group, responsible for a multi-billion-dollar portfolio across MENA that includes flagship mixed-use destinations such as Dubai Festival City and Cairo Festival City.

- Develop and implement strategic plans for real estate development projects aligned with the organizationās overall goals
- Conduct market analyses to identify development opportunities and assess project feasibility
- Manage financial aspects of projects including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
- Create comprehensive development plans detailing milestones, timelines, and resource allocation
- Collaborate with finance, design, project management, and other internal departments to execute strategies effectively
- Oversee full project lifecycles from conception through completion, ensuring quality and budget compliance
- Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to support successful project execution
- Identify and mitigate project risks and challenges proactively
- Provide senior leadership with regular detailed updates on project status, risks, and opportunities
- Prepare and present accurate reports and presentations to stakeholders and executive teams
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and innovative team environment to drive project success
Experience & skills
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in real estate development, including at least 5 years in a leadership role and 3+ years in retail development
- Proven track record of delivering super regional malls or similar-scale retail assets
- Strong understanding of GCC retail and real estate markets
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams across full development lifecycles
- Proven ability to analyze, structure, and negotiate complex financial deals
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders at all levels
