Job description
The AVP – GL & Product Control role at Dubai Islamic Bank is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the bank’s General Ledger, comprehensive product control across all business lines, and oversight of key control functions including the Treasury Middle Office. The role owns the accuracy of financial reporting, balance sheet substantiation, and foundational accounting parameters within the core banking and support systems. Responsibilities include end-to-end product control across credit, investments, properties, and derivatives; independent verification of P&L, balance sheet positions, and valuations across retail, commercial, and treasury products; oversight of treasury activities and derivative valuations including CVA and DVA; management of accounting and financial reporting processes; compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements; and leadership of a strong internal control environment. The role works closely with MIS, BPA, Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, business units, IT, Operations, Risk, and auditors to ensure consistent accounting treatment, system integrity, and control enhancement, while mentoring team members and acting as the primary audit and regulatory interface.

Key responsibilities
- Assume full ownership of the bank’s General Ledger integrity and enforce reconciliation and substantiation standards across all departments
- Own and manage the Chart of Accounts structure and accounting parameters within core and support banking systems
- Lead the end-to-end product control function across credit, investments, properties, and derivative products
- Ensure independent verification and reporting of P&L, balance sheets, and valuations across all banking products
- Provide strategic oversight and control of treasury activities and derivative valuations including CVA and DVA
- Manage accounting and financial reporting processes including month-end and year-end close
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and regulatory accounting requirements
- Establish and maintain a robust internal control environment over financial reporting
- Serve as primary point of contact for internal auditors, external auditors, and regulatory inspectors
- Collaborate with MIS, BPA, Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, IT, Operations, Risk, and business units on accounting treatments and system changes
- Manage daily P&L attribution and investigate variances between Front Office and Middle Office results
- Develop SOPs, mentor team members, set priorities, and manage Assistant Manager performance
Experience & skills
- Professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, or ACCA
- Minimum of 12 years of senior-level experience in GL control and Treasury Middle Office accounting
- Extensive hands-on experience with product control, treasury accounting, and financial reporting
- Strong expertise in IFRS and regulatory accounting requirements
- Experience working with core banking systems and accounting configuration
- Proven ability to manage audits, regulatory reviews, and internal control frameworks
