Job description
Uptime Institute principles, TIA-942, ASHRAE Data Centre guidance, and NFPA, IEC, and IEEE standards all sit inside the technical remit of this Technical Director, Data Centre role, the senior technical authority for multidisciplinary engineering services across Data Centre projects in the Middle East. Technical excellence, design quality, governance compliance, digital delivery, and successful project execution all fall under this position across every stage of the project lifecycle. You will act as the highest level of technical authority on Data Centre projects, providing strategic direction for hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, and edge developments, and reviewing and approving major engineering strategies and design philosophies. Complex technical challenges, constructability issues, and multidisciplinary coordination matters get resolved directly, with designs pushed toward optimum resilience, reliability, maintainability, energy efficiency, and operational flexibility. Design governance runs through peer reviews, technical audits, and independent verifications, kept aligned with international standards, local authority regulations, and client requirements. Specialist expertise spans civil, architectural, and structural systems through to power distribution, UPS and battery technologies, cooling, fire protection, BMS, and DCIM. Working jointly with the Market Director, this role also supports regional Data Centre market strategy, executive client engagement, and thought leadership that positions AtkinsRéalis as a preferred engineering advisor. Technical input for major bids, oversight across multiple commissions, and mentoring of senior engineering staff round out a role built to grow both projects and people.
