Job description
Twenty-eight units across the MAF refinery, from the CDU and Platformer with CCR to DHDS, SRU, PENEX and the utilities and oil movement areas, fall within the scope of this Team Lead, Process Engineering in Muscat. Reporting to the Head of Process Engineering with five process engineers in the team, you sit between the TSD Centre of Excellence and MAF operations. Complex operational problems in MAF plants are yours to lead to resolution, weighing economic, operating, maintenance and technical factors together. Optimisation work draws on process simulation, Heat and Material Balances, PFDs, benchmarking such as Solomon and Root Cause Analysis. Turnaround scopes, MOC scopes of work, HAZOP participation and minor plant modifications also come through the team. Regular reports on plant utilisation and availability go to senior management, corporate planning and finance, and operations, engineering and OMT management rely on your support to cut operating cost and recommend catalysts and chemicals. Developing the engineers in your team feeds the wider TSD talent pipeline. Candidates need a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in oil and gas, refinery or petrochemical operations, with good knowledge of SAP, PI, LIMS and DCS systems. Fluent English is required, and native Arabic is desirable.
