Job description
The Signaling Upgrade Manager at Alstom in Dubai is responsible for leading and coordinating the execution of sub-system scopes of work in railway projects, ensuring alignment with contractual commitments, project objectives, and QCDP targets. The role involves managing cross-functional teams including Engineering, R&D, Procurement, Supply Chain, Industrial, and RAMS, coordinating interfaces with train-level teams, and resolving complex cross-functional challenges. The manager oversees planning, monitoring, controlling, and managing end-to-end sub-system activities, including scope, schedule, resources, cost, risks, savings, and opportunities. Compliance with internal and external standards such as Code of Ethics & Compliance, EHS, Railway Safety, and Quality is required. The role includes representing Alstom with customers and external stakeholders, reporting KPIs transparently, cascading requirements and objectives to team members, and contributing to innovative railway solutions while fostering continuous learning and career growth.

Key responsibilities
- Apply project strategy according to defined contractual and project commitments and targets on sub-systems
- Contribute to overall project performance by timely alerting deviations and managing risks, savings, and opportunities
- Ensure compliance with applicable rules, instructions, standards, processes, and tools including Code of Ethics & Compliance, EHS, Railway Safety, Quality, and PMM
- Lead and coordinate sub-system activities and stakeholders from requirement capture to project completion
- Cascade and allocate sub-system requirements and QCDP objectives to team members
- Plan, monitor, control, and manage sub-system end-to-end activities including scope, schedule, resources, cost, risks, savings, and opportunities
- Synchronize cross-functional execution of sub-system objectives, activities, and deliverables across engineering, procurement, supply chain, and other relevant functions
- Manage sub-system situations and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report transparently
- Represent Alstom towards customers and external stakeholders when delegated by the Project Manager
- Coordinate and synchronize sub-system activities with other sub-systems and project teams to resolve overarching issues and optimize solutions
Experience & skills
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field
- Experience or understanding of project management principles including QCD and performance indicators
- Knowledge of risk management, savings, and opportunity processes in project execution
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as Code of Ethics & Compliance, EHS, Railway Safety, and Quality
- PMP certification or equivalent is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Leadership and coordination capabilities to manage cross-functional teams
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues ensuring alignment with project strategies and objectives
- Proficiency in planning, monitoring, and controlling project activities using tools and processes
- Adaptability and resilience to manage change and re-baselining during project execution
- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated on industry standards, tools, and best practices
