Job description
Getting the right products on shelf at the right time takes more than instinct, and this Category Manager role exists to build that discipline into the business through data driven category strategy. Market trends, customer behavior, and competitive insights all feed into decisions about new product introductions and assortment optimization, keeping the category ahead of where demand is heading. You participate in vendor negotiations and factory interactions when deeper involvement is needed, working closely with suppliers to optimize costs, terms, and product availability while holding relationships to quality, compliance, and ethical sourcing standards. Merchandising falls under your oversight too, covering product placement, visual merchandising, and stock rotation across the team. Stock levels, demand planning, and replenishment strategies all get managed to reduce both stock-outs and overstocking, coordinated closely with supply chain and logistics teams. Category performance gets tracked against sales, margins, stock turns, and profitability, with reports and insights feeding back into pricing, promotions, and assortment adjustments. A team of merchandisers reports into this role, receiving training and development to sharpen their buying and merchandising capabilities. Marketing, operations, and finance all become regular collaborators, since category success rarely happens in isolation.
