Job description
The Customs Clearance Specialist is responsible for handling all customs-related processes for local and international shipments in the UAE. This includes preparing and submitting accurate documentation, coordinating with UAE customs authorities (such as Dubai Customs, Abu Dhabi Customs, and free zone customs), and working with freight forwarders to ensure timely clearance of goods. The role helps prevent delays by making sure all paperwork meets UAE customs and trade requirements. The specialist also stays up to date with local laws, GCC customs rules, and VAT regulations to keep the company compliant and avoid fines or issues.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare and process all customs documentation, including import/export declarations, commercial invoices, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other relevant paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements, as well as company policies.
- Submit customs declarations to customs authorities and ensure timely clearance of goods to avoid delays or fines.
- Act as the primary point of contact between customs authorities, shipping companies, and the company to resolve any customs issues or discrepancies.
- Calculate and verify customs duties, tariffs, and taxes, ensuring accuracy and minimizing costs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customs documents and transactions.
- Address and resolve any issues or delays related to customs clearance, including working with customs brokers or third-party service providers.
- Provide guidance to internal teams or clients regarding import/export regulations, classification of goods, and documentation requirements.
- Identify potential risks in the customs clearance process, such as non-compliance or delays, and take proactive measures to mitigate these risks.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree preferably in logistics and supply chain management.
- Minimum 4 years of Customs Clearance or Cross Border experience required.
- Experience in or exposure to logistics and ecommerce, preferred.
- Team Player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and professional environment.
