Job description
The Secondary ICT Teacher at GEMS Westminster School ā Sharjah is responsible for delivering a robust computer science curriculum in line with GEMS Core Values. The role entails planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons using appropriate teaching strategies for diverse learner profiles including ESL and low academic achievers. Teachers are expected to demonstrate strong subject knowledge, prepare and maintain curriculum and assessment records, integrate media and technology into the classroom, and manage student behavior constructively. The position involves collaboration with colleagues for resource development, participation in extra-curricular programs, regular communication with parents, and contribution to school functions and events. Teachers are also required to engage in ongoing professional development and follow performance appraisal processes.

Key responsibilities
- Deliver curriculum with accurate and up-to-date subject knowledge.
- Plan and deliver motivating lessons with differentiated strategies.
- Prepare and maintain records of planning, assessments, and attendance.
- Assess and report on student progress and attainment.
- Integrate media and technology in classroom teaching.
- Provide academic and personal guidance to students.
- Ensure adherence to GEMS policies and codes of conduct.
- Communicate with external stakeholders such as the Ministry of Education when appropriate.
- Participate in performance appraisals and CPD activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues in resource and course development.
- Contribute to and lead co-curricular and extra-curricular programs.
- Manage student behavior and encourage self-discipline.
- Promote cultural awareness and a love for learning.
- Assist in organizing school events and activities.
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Show commitment beyond regular hours when necessary.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās or Masterās degree with Computer Science.
- Strong subject knowledge in ICT and Computer Science.
- Skilled in teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
- Ability to use media and technology effectively in education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to teach students of varying academic levels, including ESL learners.
- Willingness to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular school life.
- Commitment to GEMS Education safeguarding policies.
- UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check required.
