Job description
The Senior Commercial Excellence Manager (Q-Commerce Category Excellence) leads regional category excellence across multiple markets for Careemās Quick Commerce (Q-Commerce) business, setting best practices for assortment, pricing, and promotions while driving collaboration with Product & Tech, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain to deliver growth, profitability, availability, waste reduction, and fulfillment efficiency. The role defines and executes the regional category strategy, leads annual planning with clear KPIs for growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction, and builds scalable playbooks that can be localized by market. It partners with Product & Tech to improve catalog visibility, pricing tools, and merchandising experiences in-app; collaborates with Marketing on impactful campaigns and visibility across customer journeys; and works with Finance & Strategy to own category P&L, optimize margins, and plan long-term growth. The position leads negotiations with global FMCG manufacturers and key local suppliers to secure competitive terms, drives joint business planning including co-marketing, exclusives, and innovation, and establishes partnerships that scale across Careemās footprint. It develops best-practice toolkits and processes, mentors Category Managers and Associates to raise performance standards, champions data-driven decision-making to turn insights into action, anticipates customer needs and market trends to expand assortment depth and relevance, and explores growth levers such as private label, exclusives, and mission-based shopping (weekly shops, top-ups, convenience) to make Careem the first choice for groceries and essentials.

- Define the regional category excellence strategy for Q-Commerce, setting best practices for assortment, pricing, and promotions across markets
- Lead annual category planning with KPIs for growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction
- Build scalable category playbooks and frameworks that can be localized and executed by country teams
- Partner with Product & Tech to enhance catalog visibility, pricing tools, and in-app merchandising experiences
- Collaborate with Marketing to deliver impactful campaigns and ensure category visibility along customer journeys
- Work with Finance & Strategy to own the category P&L, optimize margins, and plan long-term growth trajectories
- Align with Operations & Supply Chain to improve product availability, reduce waste, and increase fulfillment efficiency
- Lead negotiations with global FMCG manufacturers and key local suppliers to secure competitive terms and unlock growth
- Drive joint business planning with suppliers, including co-marketing programs, exclusives, and innovation pipelines
- Establish and scale supplier partnerships across Careemās multi-country footprint
- Develop best-practice toolkits, processes, and standards to elevate category execution across countries
- Mentor and upskill Category Managers and Associates to raise performance standards and consistency
- Champion data-driven decision making and ensure insights translate into prioritized, actionable initiatives
- Anticipate customer needs and market trends to expand assortment depth, relevance, and differentiation
- Explore and pilot innovation opportunities such as private label, exclusives, and mission-based shopping use cases
Experience & skills
- 7ā10 years of experience in Category Management, Commercial, or Strategy roles, ideally within FMCG, Retail, Q-Commerce, or E-commerce
- Proven commercial acumen with hands-on P&L ownership experience
- Excellent cross-functional leadership with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Track record of negotiating and managing suppliers at regional and global scale
- Advanced analytical skills with a data-driven mindset
- Experience in high-growth, tech-driven, or start-up environments is a plus
- MBA or equivalent degree is desirable
