Job description
The Principal G&G Evaluations role provides geoscience insights and technical support in the planning and execution of Acquisition & Divestment activities, including screening, evaluation, negotiation, and delivery of upstream opportunities and divestments. The position operates in alignment with company strategies, industry standards, and Omani governmental regulations. Key responsibilities include geoscience due diligence, managing data rooms, supporting project documentation, mentoring junior staff, and applying best practices in new venture activities. The role requires active market intelligence gathering and interaction with both internal stakeholders and external entities such as contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies. Regular travel and operational site visits are part of the working conditions.

Key responsibilities
- Screening of newly sourced opportunities in line with OQEP BD strategy
- Stay up to date with exploration farm-out and bid round activities in Oman and the region.
- Support establishing and managing Business Development data rooms (physical & virtual).
- Support the preparation of teasers, confidential information memorandums, management presentations and investment/divestment proposals.
- Responsible for the management of technical data packages of the business development projects.
- Perform the geoscience due diligence work of opportunity evaluation with coordination with the project lead and other multidisciplinary team members (commercial, economic, legal, finance, etc.).
- Prepare and contribute to the required project documentation and presentation (evaluation reports, project close-out reports, etc.)
- Provide input to senior executives based on market intelligence and trends to enable the organization to increase capabilities in key areas that can give strategic leverage for future projects.
- Participate in gathering and analysing market intelligence information for new projects and opportunities and maintaining up to date information on industry trends and competitors
- Support the delivery of āProject Reportsā (Project Initiation Notes and Project Evaluation Notes) of new opportunities.
- Mentor and guide junior staff to develop the overall geoscience expertise in the team
- Apply best practices of new venture activity
Experience & skills
- Minimum qualification for this position is a bachelorās degree in Geophysics or Geoscience
- Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required), Arabic - Native (desirable)
- 15 years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 10 yearsā experience of geoscience experience within Upstream New Ventures for Oil & Gas companies.
- Computer knowledge in MS Office applications like MS Word, MS Excel etc.
- Experienced in Geoscience modelling and uncertainty analysis tools.
