Job description
The Senior QC Engineer â Rotating Equipment & Packages role is responsible for leading a team of onshore Senior QC Engineers for large-scale oil and gas projects in Abu Dhabi, supporting Woodâs upstream, midstream, onshore, offshore, gas-to-liquids, decarbonization, and electrification project portfolio. The role covers full project lifecycle involvement from conceptual design through FEED and detailed design stages, with accountability for quality management of rotating equipment and packaged systems within major greenfield and brownfield developments. The position involves overseeing procurement quality management, vendor and subcontractor selection and approval, inspection and test planning and execution, criticality rating management, audits, non-conformance control, performance evaluation, procurement documentation control, and quality reporting. The role also includes technical bid evaluations, management of technical queries and changes, coordination with third-party inspection agencies, and ensuring full compliance with applicable project codes, standards, specifications, safety protocols, and special requirements. The engineer provides leadership across multidisciplinary teams, interfaces with clients, vendors, procurement, construction, and engineering managers, and supports testing, commissioning, calibration, and functionality of equipment. Active participation is required in design and safety reviews including Design Reviews, P&ID Reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, ALARP, 3D Model Reviews, Constructability Reviews, and SIMOPS reviews. The role operates within Woodâs global engineering and consulting framework, contributing to energy transition initiatives, sustainable power solutions, and high-profile energy sector projects while maintaining strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of onshore Senior QC Engineers and designers for rotating equipment and packages on large-scale oil and gas projects.
- Manage procurement quality management activities including vendor and subcontractor selection, approval, inspections, audits, non-conformance management, and performance evaluation.
- Plan, execute, and control inspection and test activities, criticality ratings, procurement quality objectives, KPIs, and quality performance reporting.
- Review, approve, and control vendor and subcontractor documents, procurement records, and quality documentation in line with project requirements.
- Conduct technical bid evaluations, manage technical queries and changes, and liaise with third-party inspection agencies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable project codes, standards, specifications, safety protocols, and special requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering managers, procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and compliant project execution.
- Develop project schedules, allocate tasks, monitor deliverables, and ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and manhour targets.
- Identify technical issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and issue formal recommendations through technical queries and deviations.
- Participate actively in design, safety, and constructability reviews including P&ID, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, ALARP, 3D Model, Constructability, and SIMOPS reviews.
- Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance across all QC and engineering activities.
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorâs Degree in QC Engineering as a minimum qualification.
- Possess at least 15 years of experience in oil and gas project design from conceptual stage through FEED and detailed design.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 5 yearsâ experience in a Lead Engineer role on major greenfield or brownfield oil and gas projects.
- Have more than 10 years of experience in quality management for rotating equipment and packages.
- Show proven experience in procurement quality management, vendor inspections, audits, non-conformance management, and quality performance reporting.
- Demonstrate expertise in instrumentation and control systems, including control loop design, field instrumentation, and communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and Foundation Fieldbus.
- Possess hands-on experience with industry software tools including InTools, Conval, SPI, 3D Model Review Tools, SPR, Navis Works, and MS Office Suite.
- Have experience managing large multidisciplinary teams of 50+ engineers and designers, including coordination of satellite office teams.
- Demonstrate knowledge of engineering work planning, inter-discipline coordination, construction practices, and project economics.
- Be capable of working effectively on-site under tight schedules in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary oil and gas project environments.
