Job description
The Assistant Manager within EYâs MENA Tax â Global Compliance & Reporting (GCR) team leads complex client engagements and drives practice growth by combining strong technical tax skills with practical commercial, legislative, and industry knowledge. The role manages teams to deliver end-to-end compliance and reporting services, establishes and strengthens internal and external relationships, ensures highest-quality service delivery, and enforces adherence to EYâs Tax Quality guidelines. Responsibilities include day-to-day management of engagements, monitoring progress and deliverables, instituting standardized processes, anticipating and identifying risks with appropriate escalation, and implementing performance-improvement solutions. The Assistant Manager supervises high-performing teams, builds a positive learning culture, and coaches and counsels junior team members. The position requires very strong knowledge and a minimum of 4 yearsâ experience across domestic and international tax rules and developments, with a strong background in tax accounting and tax auditing, ideally gained in a large professional services environment, and the ability to operate across borders with large datasets while communicating effectively with a wide network of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day management of client engagements for Global Compliance & Reporting, monitoring progress, deliverables, and timelines
- Implement standardized processes across engagements, anticipate risks, escalate issues appropriately, and drive performance-improvement solutions
- Direct and review GCR compliance and reporting deliverables to ensure adherence to EY Tax Quality guidelines and highest service standards
- Establish, maintain, and strengthen internal and external client relationships to support service excellence and practice growth
- Supervise high-performing teams, coach and counsel junior staff, and foster a positive learning culture
- Apply strong technical, commercial, legislative, and industry knowledge to guide teams in delivering tax services
- Coordinate work across borders and with diverse stakeholders while managing large volumes of data relevant to compliance and reporting
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs degree with strong academic credentials in Accounting, Business, Finance, Taxation, or related field; MBA/masterâs or professional qualifications (CA, CPA, ACCA, CTA, ADIT) preferred
- Minimum 4 yearsâ experience in domestic and international tax rules/regulations and developments, ideally in a large professional services environment
- Very strong background in tax accounting and tax auditing, ideally within a large professional services company
- Proven managerial, organizational, and project management track record leading teams on compliance and reporting engagements
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across borders with diverse stakeholders and large datasets
- Ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships while ensuring adherence to Tax Quality guidelines
