Job description
The Credit Risk role at DIFC is part of the Group Credit division under the second line of defense in a structured operating model. The role focuses primarily on credit portfolio management, with additional involvement in risk-related project management and personal/professional development. Responsibilities include supporting credit policy adherence, conducting credit application assessments, ensuring accurate credit data documentation, and identifying emerging risks in portfolios. The role also includes involvement in strategic projects and continuous learning through internal and external training.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Support Head of Credit Risk across multiple geographies on sovereign, corporate and financial institution transactions
- Interpret and apply Group Credit Policy and related procedures
- Consult on adequacy of Credit Application Forms (CAF) regarding risk explanation and mitigation
- Ensure CAF compliance with group policies and submit support levels with identified deficiencies
- Sample-check spreadsheets, covenant compliance, and CAF conditionalities
- Mitigate risks identified in Out of Order (OOO) reports
- Monitor country-specific developments and perform annual site visits for exposure reviews
- Ensure timely and complete delivery of annual reviews
- Support sector and cross-jurisdiction reporting as required
- Identify elevated credit risk accounts for Close Monitoring Reports
- Contribute to department or group-wide risk-related projects
- Record project contributions for performance evaluations
- Undertake at least one external training course annually and attend internal seminars
Experience & skills
- Excellent PC skills, particularly MS Office
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Basic understanding of IFRS requirements
- Advantageous: Knowledge of banking products and market dynamics
- Advantageous: Awareness of performance management tools
- Degree with an element of finance or equivalent
- Institute of Bankers associate or equivalent preferred
- 10+ years of corporate credit experience with UAE/GCC corporates
- Strong stakeholder management and market knowledge
