Job description
The Associate Director - Engineering - Architecture and Spatial Design is responsible for leading coordinated planning, technical oversight, and review of MEP, Public Health, and Fire & Life Safety systems within luxury hospitality developments, ensuring alignment with architectural intent, hotel operations, brand standards, and long-term asset performance. The role requires interpretation of architectural and MEP drawings across guestrooms, Front of House, Back of House, Food & Beverage, Spa, and leisure areas, with a strong understanding of spatial adjacencies, circulation, and service flows. The position involves detailed evaluation of electrical systems including power distribution, emergency power, lighting and controls, and low-current systems to ensure reliability, redundancy, and maintainability. It also requires assessment of mechanical and HVAC systems such as chilled water, DX systems, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation, and energy efficiency solutions with a focus on thermal comfort, acoustics, humidity control, and guest experience. Responsibilities extend to plumbing and public health systems, including water supply, hot water, drainage, grease management, water treatment, and efficiency, ensuring peak demand handling and water quality. The role includes coordination of Fire & Life Safety systems such as detection, suppression, smoke management, stair pressurisation, and fire pumps, ensuring integration with building layouts and operational requirements. The candidate will work across design development and construction stages, collaborating with architects, interior designers, specialist consultants, hotel operators, brand technical teams, and contractors, applying international hospitality codes and standards while translating complex technical designs into practical, operational solutions within multidisciplinary environments.
