Job description
The Associate Manager - Project Engineering at MAF Retail in Riyadh is responsible for managing technical design, specifications, and standards to ensure proper execution of projects within Business Development. This role involves supporting project teams, coordinating activities, supervising contractors and vendors, and ensuring compliance with all technical and organizational requirements. The position requires conducting feasibility studies, analyzing building codes, by-laws, and site requirements, determining structural, electrical, and mechanical designs, and ensuring adherence to approved frameworks. The Associate Manager is responsible for preparing tender documentation, scheduling material inspections, supervising contractors to maintain quality standards, maintaining records and archives for technical specifications, and escalating operational or technical issues to the Project Manager. This role requires a strong focus on project compliance, quality assurance, and collaboration with multiple departments to ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects according to the company’s standards.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility studies in coordination with the project team to ensure all specifications and standards meet organizational requirements.
- Participate in tender preparation by directing project team members and ensuring all relevant technical aspects are included and compliant.
- Analyze building codes, by-laws, space, site requirements, and technical documents to determine their impact on project design and budgeting.
- Determine structural, electrical, and mechanical designs in accordance with approved frameworks and organizational standards.
- Escalate technical and operational changes that arise during construction to the Project Manager for timely resolution.
- Arrange and supervise material inspection activities, informing relevant team members and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Oversee contractor personnel to ensure all work is completed according to specifications, standards, and organizational guidelines.
- Prepare, obtain, and assemble design standards, benchmarking data, and maintain comprehensive records and archives for technical specifications and project documentation.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor degree in Electrical or other Engineering field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related function, preferably in retail or construction project engineering.
- Excellent supervisory and team management skills to coordinate multi-department project activities.
- PMP certification required to manage project schedules, documentation, and compliance standards effectively.
- Proven experience in preparing tenders, analyzing technical documentation, and performing feasibility studies.
- Ability to determine and implement structural, electrical, and mechanical designs in line with organizational frameworks.
- Experience in supervising contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
- Strong documentation skills to maintain technical specifications, benchmarking data, and project archives for reference and compliance purposes.
