Job description
The Senior Principal Hook Up Engineer is responsible for solving complex problems impacting the business and providing expert guidance in Hook-Up & Commissioning (Fab) within the EPCI sector. The role involves developing and executing strategies for hook-up to ensure project delivery on schedule and within budget, coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal teams, providing technical expertise and ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations. The engineer conducts inspections, audits, HAZID and SIMOPS workshops, manages offshore mobilization and readiness, defines shutdown and turnaround strategies, reviews budgets, and oversees execution strategies. The role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions for hook-up challenges, acts as the single point of contact for execution strategy and budget control, and supervises offshore activities. The engineer participates in project close-out, records lessons learned, ensures readiness endorsements, and maintains alignment with client expectations throughout project execution.

- Develop and execute effective hook-up strategies to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to determine project requirements and objectives
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations
- Conduct inspections and audits to monitor hook-up activity progress and quality
- Identify and resolve potential issues or bottlenecks
- Ensure hook-up team participation in engineering and construction surveys
- Define and validate shutdown and turnaround activities, ensuring alignment with clients
- Conduct constructability reviews and provide cost-effective, safe work practices
- Act as single point of contact for execution strategy, budget control, and overall project delivery
- Review critical engineering deliverables and provide feedback
- Conduct HAZID and SIMOPS workshops
- Manage business risks and maximize opportunities
- Prepare HDMS database inputs and support offshore scheduling
- Conduct offshore mobilization readiness reviews and ensure alignment of subcontractors and vendors
- Implement Management of Change (MOC) processes as required
- Supervise day-to-day offshore activities, including conference calls and field execution
- Make offshore visits to maintain management presence and team motivation
- Participate in project close-out including lessons learned and best practices implementation
- Endorse project readiness from hook-up brownfield perspective
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field); Master's preferred or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience in EPCI industry with focus on hook-up and commissioning
- Proven track record of delivering complex hook-up and commissioning projects, preferably offshore
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to hook-up and commissioning
- Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools for planning, execution, and documentation
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
