Job description
The Mathematics Teacher will deliver the Secondary Key Stage 3 curriculum effectively while promoting academic excellence in alignment with GEMS Core Values. The teacher is responsible for planning and executing lessons, assessing and reporting student performance, maintaining educational records, and contributing to extracurricular activities. The role demands active communication with students, parents, and external bodies, while maintaining compliance with institutional policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities
- Deliver the required curriculum with accurate and up-to-date subject knowledge.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that motivate students and cater to different learning styles.
- Maintain records of curriculum plans, teaching resources, and assessment schedules.
- Ensure policies and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate studentsā individual needs and learning differences.
- Assess, record, and report on academic progress and use findings to improve instruction.
- Incorporate media and technology into lessons to enhance student learning.
- Guide and support students in educational and personal development.
- Communicate with external bodies such as Ministry of Education as required.
- Participate in appraisal, performance management, and professional development (CPD).
- Collaborate with colleagues to prepare teaching materials and support school programs.
- Lead and participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
- Manage classroom behavior and implement strategies for discipline and engagement.
- Foster cultural awareness, mutual respect, and a love of learning among students.
- Support school events such as competitions, concerts, and awards ceremonies.
- Communicate student progress regularly with parents, respecting confidentiality.
- Go beyond normal work hours when necessary to fulfill responsibilities.
Experience & skills
- Bachelors and Masters degree in Mathematics
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Mathematics
- Minimum 2 years teaching experience
- Strong subject knowledge in mathematics
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience in differentiating learning for ESL and gifted students
- Proficiency in integrating technology in classroom instruction
- Commitment to extracurricular involvement
- Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS or equivalent police check
- Familiarity with UK National Curriculum or equivalent international frameworks
