EY is seeking a Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) Tax Manager to join the MENA Tax – Global Compliance & Reporting practice in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on leading complex tax engagements and contributing to the growth of the Global Compliance & Reporting practice by delivering comprehensive tax compliance and tax reporting services to clients. The Manager will apply strong technical expertise in domestic tax rules, international tax rules, and evolving tax regulations while leveraging deep knowledge in tax accounting and tax auditing to support multinational clients. The position requires managing client tax compliance and reporting requirements, ensuring services adhere to EY Tax Quality guidelines, and implementing standardized processes to support engagement delivery. The role involves working extensively with large datasets, maintaining robust compliance procedures, and ensuring accurate regulatory reporting aligned with global tax frameworks. The Manager operates within a large professional services environment and applies commercial, legislative, and industry knowledge to ensure high-quality client service across complex cross-border engagements. The position also includes overseeing project management aspects of engagements, monitoring deliverables, identifying and escalating risks, implementing performance-improvement processes, and maintaining adherence to regulatory standards. The role demands expertise in accounting, finance, and taxation and requires recognized professional certifications such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CTA, ADIT, or equivalent qualifications, as well as academic credentials such as a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, taxation, or related disciplines, with advanced degrees such as an MBA or master’s considered beneficial. The Manager collaborates with multinational clients and cross-border teams in a multi-cultural professional services environment, supporting tax compliance frameworks and regulatory reporting processes within the Global Compliance & Reporting (GCR) function while maintaining quality assurance aligned with EY’s global tax service standards.

Key responsibilities
- Lead complex Global Compliance & Reporting (GCR) tax engagements within the MENA Tax practice by directing tax compliance and tax reporting activities for multinational clients, applying technical expertise in domestic tax rules, international tax rules, and evolving tax regulations to ensure accurate and compliant reporting across jurisdictions while delivering services in line with EY’s global professional services standards.
- Manage the day-to-day execution of client engagements by planning engagement timelines, monitoring project progress, supervising engagement deliverables, coordinating cross-functional tax teams, and implementing standardized processes that ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency across tax compliance and reporting engagements.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and final delivery of tax compliance and tax reporting outputs by applying expertise in tax accounting and tax auditing, ensuring all deliverables meet regulatory requirements, professional services standards, and internal Tax Quality guidelines while maintaining accuracy across large datasets and complex financial records.
- Identify potential engagement risks by continuously monitoring compliance processes, evaluating the impact of domestic and international tax regulations on client operations, anticipating reporting issues, and implementing structured risk identification and risk escalation procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and minimize exposure.
- Drive performance improvement across engagements by implementing standardized processes, monitoring operational efficiency, introducing best practices in project management and compliance workflows, and ensuring that the GCR team delivers high-quality tax compliance and reporting services in accordance with EY’s operational frameworks.
- Supervise, guide, and coordinate high-performing tax professionals by allocating responsibilities, reviewing team outputs, supporting technical development in tax accounting and tax auditing, and coaching junior team members within the Global Compliance & Reporting practice to strengthen overall service delivery capabilities.
- Establish, maintain, and strengthen relationships with internal stakeholders, cross-border tax teams, and external multinational clients by providing advisory support related to tax compliance and reporting obligations, ensuring alignment with legislative frameworks and industry regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ensure full adherence to EY Tax Quality guidelines and regulatory reporting standards by maintaining strong oversight of compliance procedures, validating engagement outputs, and embedding quality control mechanisms within all Global Compliance & Reporting (GCR) tax engagements.
Experience & skills
- Possess a bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials in accounting, business, finance, taxation, or a related discipline that provides a strong technical foundation in financial reporting, taxation principles, and accounting standards relevant to tax compliance and tax reporting functions.
- Hold or be in the process of obtaining advanced academic qualifications such as an MBA or master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or taxation, or possess internationally recognized professional certifications including CA, CPA, ACCA, CTA, ADIT, or equivalent qualifications relevant to global tax advisory and compliance services.
- Demonstrate a minimum of five years of professional experience with strong technical knowledge of domestic tax rules, international tax rules, and tax regulations, ideally gained within a large professional services firm or similar consulting environment supporting multinational clients.
- Exhibit a strong technical background in tax accounting and tax auditing, including practical experience supporting tax compliance and tax reporting processes, reviewing financial records, interpreting regulatory frameworks, and ensuring accurate tax-related financial disclosures.
- Demonstrate proven project management and engagement management experience by successfully planning and executing client engagements, monitoring deliverables, coordinating tax teams, and implementing standardized processes to ensure efficient delivery of tax compliance and reporting services.
- Possess hands-on experience in identifying operational or regulatory risks within tax engagements, implementing structured risk identification and risk escalation processes, and maintaining adherence to professional services quality frameworks such as Tax Quality guidelines.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate effectively within multinational client environments by applying commercial, legislative, and industry knowledge to tax compliance and reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks.
- Show experience working with large volumes of financial and tax-related data within compliance engagements, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to domestic and international tax reporting standards while operating within a large professional services environment.
