Job description
The Finance and Commercial Advisor role at bp supports all finance and commercial matters related to bp’s activities in Abu Dhabi, with a strong focus on oil and LNG businesses. The position leverages advanced technical capabilities in integrated business planning, performance reporting, commercial optimization, and economic evaluation to advise the business and drive outstanding results. The role involves leading and supporting budgets and forecasts, monitoring and analyzing business performance, providing advanced economic and analytical support for decision-making, and developing and maintaining economic models. The Finance and Commercial Advisor leads bp processes for investment governance, reserves booking, SMOG, impairment, and risk management, while ensuring compliance with bp policies. The role includes active participation in joint venture finance and audit committee meetings, advising on decisions aligned with joint venture agreements to protect and enhance bp value, and coordinating with technical and non-technical teams across the business. The position is based in Abu Dhabi, requires up to 10% travel, and operates within bp’s inclusive and diverse professional environment.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and support development of budgets and forecasts for oil and LNG businesses as part of integrated business planning.
- Monitor business performance and provide timely financial and commercial analysis and advice.
- Provide advanced economic and analytical support for business decisions.
- Lead bp processes for investment governance, reserves booking, SMOG, and impairment activities.
- Maintain and create economic and financial models to support decision-making.
- Participate in joint venture finance and audit committee meetings.
- Advise business decisions in line with joint venture agreements to protect and enhance bp value.
- Lead risk management processes and ensure compliance with relevant bp policies for joint venture management.
- Work with relevant teams across the business to drive alignment and outstanding business results.
Experience & skills
- Degree level education in Finance, Economics, Accountancy, Business Management, or equivalent.
- Significant experience in finance, business planning, and economic evaluation within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong analytical and modeling skills with a sound understanding of accounting fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Fluent English language proficiency.
- Experience in investment governance processes, joint ventures, and agreements management is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience of LNG markets and pricing is desirable.
