Job description
UPS systems, generators, chillers and AHUs inside Microsoft's leased datacenters keep cloud services running, and this Dubai-based program manager answers for their availability, safety and performance. Landlord partners operate that infrastructure, so owning those relationships and governing every change that touches the live environment are central to the role. Preventative and corrective maintenance programs need planning and oversight, backed by MOP, SOP and EOP controls, incident reviews and RCAs. Power, temperature and SLA performance are measured and reported, while cost and energy efficiency initiatives push results further. During facilities incidents, you act as an escalation point and support emergency response readiness. Engineering, construction, IT and network teams, vendors and landlords all work with this position, translating objectives into executable maintenance and risk-mitigation plans. Sites across the sub-region also rely on your expertise, whether for remote support, onboarding new capacity, landlord transitions or covering peers. Travel takes up a meaningful share of time, typically 25-30% and up to 50%, and the role is fully on-site otherwise. A High School Diploma with 7+ years in a datacenter or critical environment facility, or 10+ years with college coursework, is required, including 5+ years on critical infrastructure.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Oversee daily operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, including preventive and corrective programs
- Manage relationships with landlord partners who operate leased datacenter infrastructure
- Ensure uptime and reliability of critical environment systems through monitoring and risk mitigation
- Govern maintenance procedures, incident reviews (RCAs) and change management for the live environment
- Drive safety and compliance with Microsoft standards, addressing risks immediately
- Partner with engineering teams, vendors and landlords to optimise datacenter performance across the sub-region
- Reduce human-error and high-impact incidents year over year
- Act as an escalation point for facilities-related incidents and support emergency response readiness
- Report power, temperature and SLA performance accurately
- Advance cost optimisation and energy efficiency initiatives
- Communicate the customer impact of lock-downs and maintenance windows and plan to minimise disruption
- Provide remote and on-site critical environment support to leased sites across the sub-region
- Mentor colleagues and share best practices across datacenters
- Support new site onboarding, landlord transitions and handover of newly delivered capacity
- Backfill peer FSEs at other sites during absences, vacancies or busy periods
