Job description
The Assistant Communication & Interior Design Manager at IKEA RSO Jebel Ali leads and inspires the Com&In team to enhance customer engagement and drive demand for home furnishing solutions. The role oversees store layout, range presentation, and in-store communication to position IKEA as a leader in home life. Responsibilities include supporting the Com&In manager in departmental operations, aligning action plans with store strategy, and creating an inspiring shopping experience. The position requires managing budgets, resources, and team development while ensuring operational efficiency, commercial success, and compliance with store planning standards. The role emphasizes strategic and analytical planning, project management, effective communication, and operational alignment across departments to maintain vibrant, customer-focused store environments.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the Com&In team to leverage knowledge of IKEA home furnishing and customer behavior to grow business performance
- Initiate and facilitate creative workshops to generate innovative design directions for store layout and range presentation
- Create and implement a commercial store calendar in collaboration with store management to ensure seasonal vitality and alignment with business objectives
- Oversee range presentation solutions, ensuring optimal store layout and effective communication that strengthens the IKEA Brand
- Contribute to the store business plan using insights from customer behavior and in-store trends to drive sales and customer satisfaction
- Participate in presenting the range process alongside Sales Managers and Logistics Manager following IKEA operational methods
- Review and monitor planning, preparation, and implementation processes for store changes, collaborating with Interior Design, Visual Merchandising, and Activity functions
- Manage the store budget for the Com&In department and contribute expertise to achieving overall store sales targets
- Ensure the store environment provides an engaging customer experience that encourages repeat visits and showcases home furnishing solutions
- Coordinate store projects including rebuilds, alignment of marketing activities, and cross-department collaboration to avoid agenda conflicts with carpentry, graphics, assembly, electricians, and IT
- Oversee staff training, ensuring co-workers receive necessary safety, operational, and development guidance to support store performance and succession planning
- Act as deputy for the Com&In manager when required and maintain strong interdepartmental relations to foster collaboration and operational efficiency
- Continuously monitor and refine store operations, layout, and visual merchandising strategies to enhance customer engagement and business results
- Support operational alignment between design, commercial, and logistics teams to ensure consistency across all store touchpoints
Experience & skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in interior design, visual merchandising, or related roles, preferably within IKEA
- Extensive experience in design-oriented positions such as interior design, graphic design, visual merchandising, or store planning
- Possession of a design-based education with proven application in retail or commercial environments
- Strong project management experience, including planning, execution, and cross-functional coordination
- Proficiency in store layout planning and range presentation to optimize customer engagement and commercial outcomes
- Strategic and analytical planning skills to drive operational efficiency and alignment with store objectives
- Excellent communication skills to lead teams, collaborate with multiple departments, and facilitate workshops
- Demonstrated leadership and team development experience, including staff training, mentoring, and performance management
- Deep interest and understanding of home furnishings and consumer behavior in the retail environment
- Competence in operational management and budget oversight to ensure departmental success
