Job description
The Senior System Engineer based in Riyadh is a critical role responsible for designing, managing, and securing the enterprise Windows-based IT infrastructure, ensuring that all systems operate reliably, securely, and in compliance with regulatory frameworks. This role encompasses end-to-end administration of Windows Servers, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, and Microsoft SQL Server databases. The engineer is responsible for maintaining identity and access management through Active Directory, configuring security features in Microsoft 365 E5 such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Mobile Device Management (MDM), and Microsoft Defender, and ensuring that all enterprise applications run optimally and securely. In addition, the Senior System Engineer manages system monitoring, patch management, and backup and disaster recovery processes to guarantee business continuity. The role involves working closely with DevOps and development teams to support application hosting environments, implement automation using PowerShell and Ansible, integrate Microsoft Azure services, and optimize system performance. The engineer ensures that all operational processes comply with security best practices, internal standards, and external regulatory requirements including NCA compliance. The Senior System Engineer is also responsible for preparing detailed audit evidence for internal and external reviews, overseeing incident response and remediation activities, and providing guidance on enterprise IT governance. This position demands advanced technical proficiency, attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to maintain a secure, scalable, and highly available IT environment. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers, documenting technical procedures, maintaining system configuration standards, and continually evaluating infrastructure improvements to enhance performance, security, and efficiency across the organization.

- Administer Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring backups and performance optimization
- Implement automation using PowerShell and Ansible
- Integrate and manage Microsoft Azure services
- Monitor system performance and implement patch management
- Ensure backup and disaster recovery readiness
- Handle incident response and troubleshoot system issues
- Prepare audit evidence for internal and external compliance requirements, including NCA
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 6 years of experience as a Windows System Administrator or Engineer
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server administration
- Experience with Active Directory management, users, groups, and GPOs
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online administration
- Experience configuring Microsoft 365 E5 security features (DLP, MDM, Microsoft Defender)
- Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), including backups and performance tuning
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Ansible)
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services
- Knowledge of system hardening, patch management, and security best practices
- Experience preparing audit evidence and working with regulatory frameworks (e.g., NCA compliance)
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
- Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery best practices
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, MCSA/MCSE or equivalent) preferred
