Job description
The Senior Civil/Structural Designer at Wood is responsible for the design and detailing of civil and structural works for oil and gas projects, specifically a major onshore brownfield project in Dubai, UAE. The position entails full-time office-based work with occasional travel. The designer will focus on EPC and FEED projects, preparing layout drawings, underground drainage designs, concrete and structural steel works. Proficiency in SP3D and experience with Navisworks or SPR is mandatory; familiarity with PDS/PDMS is an advantage. The candidate must ensure compliance with American codes and standards, and will contribute to specification development, MTO preparation, and technical documentation. Responsibilities include reviewing and checking discipline work, preparing estimates, and maintaining project quality standards. The role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and the client, involvement in change control, and support for continuous technical development and performance improvement. The designer must also be capable of handling brownfield scopes and interfacing with other disciplines.

- Identify and manage scope and schedule changes per change control process
- Provide technical support to project teams and ensure compliance with schedules
- Assist with estimate preparation and reviews
- Maintain discipline filing systems and project documentation
- Promote lateral learning and support skill development within the team
Experience & skills
- Hold a Diploma in Engineering (Civil/Structural) or ITI certification
- Have at least 9 years of post-graduate experience
- Possess a minimum of 6 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry
- Hold at least 4 years of experience specifically in the senior designer designation
- Demonstrate hands-on experience with SP3D and Navisworks or SPR
- Show knowledge in specifications, design basis, and compliance with American standards
- Have experience in preparing MTOs and using Excel for documentation
- Understand interfaces with other disciplines, especially in brownfield scopes
- Exhibit good communication skills and team collaboration capabilities
