Job description
Leads independent model validation and model governance activities across the bank, ensuring adherence to CBUAE model management standards, internal frameworks, and best-practice quantitative methodologies. Oversees validation of risk and non-risk models, develops quantitative tools, manages model risk, and supports ICAAP and stress-testing processes.

Key responsibilities
- Support implementation of the group-wide model risk management framework
- Conduct model identification, classification, tiering and inventory management
- Ensure compliance with CBUAE Model Management Standards
- Identify, assess, and escalate model risks and findings
- Lead independent validation of credit, market, liquidity, pricing, and macroeconomic models
- Validate non-risk models including compliance, fraud, and business models
- Develop quantitative tools in Python, R, SAS, Excel/VBA to test model behavior and sensitivity
- Review and challenge model development, methodology, and documentation
- Produce validation reports for senior management, auditors, and compliance
- Support remediation of identified model weaknesses
- Participate in vendor model assessment and handover processes
- Contribute to ICAAP, stress testing, and bank-wide quantitative exercises
- Ensure models remain fit-for-purpose and aligned with regulatory requirements
Experience & skills
- Minimum 8 yearsâ experience in risk, modelling, or quantitative functions
- Strong academic background in a quantitative discipline
- Hands-on experience validating risk and pricing models
- Proficiency in SAS, Python, R, VBA and handling large datasets
- Strong understanding of Basel II/III, IFRS9, CBUAE model governance standards
- Experience with credit scoring and trading/market systems
- Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines
- Professional certifications (FRM, PRM, CQF, CFA) preferred
