Job description
The Assistant Buyer role is focused on supporting the buying processes within the retail industry, ensuring optimal product selection that drives business growth. The position involves analysing market trends to make data-driven purchasing decisions, collaborating with suppliers to negotiate contracts, and monitoring product performance to adjust orders according to consumer demand. The Assistant Buyer supports the development and execution of buying strategies aligned with company objectives, maintains and updates product records in the system, and prepares comprehensive reports on buying trends and product performance. The role also requires working closely with cross-functional teams, including Merchandising, Marketing, and Distribution, to optimize product launches and promotions. Responsibilities further extend to participating in vendor meetings and product selection discussions, requiring proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, alongside strong analytical capabilities, negotiation skills, and attention to detail within a fast-paced retail environment.

Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
- Possess 1-2 years of experience in a buying or merchandising role, preferably within the retail sector
- Demonstrate strong negotiation and communication skills
- Exhibit excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Show proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
