Job description
The Senior/Specialist Inbound Logistics - LPIC at OQ is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring inbound logistics operations, ensuring efficient material handling, vendor management, and inventory control for petrochemical production. The role focuses on coordinating logistics contractors, optimizing costs, and maintaining compliance with HSE standards and quality specifications. The specialist supports production readiness, monitors cargo movement, inspects incoming packaging and raw materials, and ensures proper storage and handling of products. The position requires strong technical expertise in petrochemical processes, logistics best practices, and safety compliance, alongside strong leadership and analytical skills to ensure timely and cost-effective operations.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise daily inbound logistics activities, ensuring compliance with SOPs and HSE standards
- Analyze scheduling and production issues, implementing corrective actions to meet delivery targets
- Track cargo movement and coordinate with production planning and scheduling teams
- Inspect packaging and raw materials for quality compliance
- Ensure proper handling and storage of semi-finished and finished products
- Control inventory of packaging materials and finished goods to meet production demands
- Manage relationships with suppliers, licensors, contractors, and logistics handlers
- Ensure vendor compliance with ISO standards, documentation, and quality assurance systems
- Monitor contractor performance and apply penalties for excess scrap allowance
- Propose logistics cost optimization and efficiency improvements
- Liaise between operations, logistics, maintenance, and contractors to redirect scrap material
- Maintain production schedules and customer service levels
- Support in budgeting, cost control, and operational efficiency improvements
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- 5–8 years of experience in logistics coordination within Oil & Gas, Refining, or Petrochemical industries
- Experience in petrochemical operation planning and scheduling with computer-based tools
- Knowledge of petrochemical processes, equipment, and PE unit operations
- Strong understanding of inbound logistics documentation and best practices
- Experience with P&ID and PFD interpretation
- Proven HSE knowledge including PTW, confined space, fire safety, HAZOP, and emergency response
- Experience with commissioning and start-up of PE units
- Proficiency in MS Office and business applications such as SAP, PI, PLC, DCS, LIMS, and Hysys
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
- Leadership, negotiation, and team management skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English (required)
