Job description
Wood is recruiting an experienced PMC Quantity Surveyor within the Construction team for its Oil, Gas & New Energies business, full time onshore site based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, supporting construction, installation and engineering activities through surveying operations. The role plans and executes site survey activities with precision and efficiency; establishes and maintains survey control points, benchmarks, reference systems and reference grids for accurate layout and alignment of pipelines, structures and equipment; conducts topographic, geodetic and as-built surveys and manages survey data and documentation including topographic maps, as-built records and digital models; reviews, validates and ensures accuracy of survey data before submission; supports construction progress tracking through regular site measurements and reporting; provides accurate layout, elevation and alignment data for civil, structural and pipeline works; monitors and resolves discrepancies between design drawings and actual site conditions; coordinates with engineering, construction and QA/QC teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure survey data supports design and execution requirements; liaises with contractors, consultants and client representatives to address survey-related queries and provide technical input during inspections and audits and represent the survey discipline in client and contractor meetings; leads and supervises survey teams with task allocation, performance monitoring and adherence to project timelines; ensures calibration, maintenance and proper use of surveying instruments including GPS, Total Stations and Laser Scanners; prepares and maintains detailed survey reports, drawings and documentation ensuring traceability and compliance; implements and enforces safety protocols during survey operations, identifying and mitigating risks related to terrain and equipment and promoting safe work practices; trains and mentors junior surveyors to promote best practices and continuous improvement; and ensures timely reporting of survey results, deviations and recommendations to project management while meeting project specifications, industry standards and client requirements.

- Conduct topographic, geodetic and as-built surveys and ensure precision and compliance with project specifications, industry standards and client requirements
- Manage survey data and documentation including topographic maps, as-built records, digital models, survey reports, drawings and traceable records
- Review and validate survey data to ensure accuracy before submission to project stakeholders and report survey results, deviations and recommendations to project management
- Coordinate with engineering, construction and QA/QC teams to resolve discrepancies, ensure survey outputs support design/execution requirements and address conflicts between design drawings and actual site conditions
- Support construction teams by providing accurate layout and elevation data for civil, structural and pipeline works and support construction progress tracking through regular site measurements and reporting
- Utilize, calibrate and maintain surveying instruments including GPS, Total Stations and Laser Scanners and ensure proper functionality and correct use across the team
- Lead and supervise the survey team through task assignment, performance monitoring, quality control, timeliness of deliverables and adherence to project timelines
- Implement safety protocols during survey activities, identify and mitigate risks related to terrain and equipment, ensure compliance with safety standards and promote safe work practices
- Provide technical input during inspections and audits and represent the survey discipline in client and contractor meetings
- Liaise with contractors, consultants and client representatives to address survey-related queries and provide technical support
- Train and mentor junior surveyors to promote best practices, continuous improvement and skill development
Experience & skills
- Have experience executing construction site surveying activities to support construction, installation and engineering operations on onshore site environments
- Be able to establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, reference systems and reference grids for accurate layout and alignment of pipelines, structures and equipment
- Be able to conduct topographic, geodetic and as-built surveys and manage topographic maps, as-built records and digital models
- Be able to review and validate survey data for accuracy before submission and prepare detailed survey reports, drawings and documentation with traceability and compliance
- Have experience coordinating with engineering, construction and QA/QC teams to resolve discrepancies and support project execution
- Have experience supporting civil, structural and pipeline works with accurate layout and elevation data and progress tracking measurements and reporting
- Have experience monitoring and resolving discrepancies between design drawings and actual site conditions
- Be able to use and maintain surveying instruments with calibration and functionality assurance including GPS, Total Stations and Laser Scanners
- Be able to implement safety protocols during survey operations and identify and mitigate risks related to terrain and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Be able to lead and supervise survey teams and train and mentor junior surveyors
- Be able to operate full time onshore site based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
