Job description
The Catering Systems Manager at Etihad Airways is responsible for the strategic oversight, functionality, and optimization of the catering management system (CMS) across the airlineās catering operations. This role defines standards, governance, and design principles, ensuring seamless integration of processes, accurate data governance, and effective system utilization. The position drives continuous improvement initiatives, incorporates new technologies, manages automation and proof-of-concept initiatives, and oversees UAT, training, and deployment of new catering system modules. The manager ensures operational efficiency, compliance, and strategic alignment with Etihad Airways' business objectives, including waste management, supplier integrations, menu and pricing specifications, and system performance monitoring. This role also leads a team providing technical and functional support to catering and network teams while managing data sourcing, benchmarking, reporting, and trend analysis to support decision-making and process optimization.

Key responsibilities
- Oversee the Catering Operations digital and innovation roadmap, optimizing the use and functionality of the core CMS and related applications, ensuring uptime, data integrity, and security.
- Translate catering business needs into system capability requirements, ensuring scalability and long-term sustainability of CMS.
- Incorporate new technologies and data collection sources in partnership with SMEs, internal and external partners, to improve operational efficiency and ROI in food and beverage delivery.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize system utilization, automation, and process efficiency across catering operations.
- Implement system updates, patches, and enhancements in collaboration with IT and vendors to maintain optimal system performance.
- Provide oversight and leadership to the catering systems team, troubleshooting issues and ensuring timely resolution to minimize operational disruptions.
- Ensure integrity, reliability, and performance of CMS, including automated functionalities such as waste management and supplier integrations.
- Manage change control and approvals for menu/pricing specifications and operationalize system processes including new caterer setup, daily menu management, and project roll-outs.
- Manage sourcing, cleaning, and sharing of evolving data sources for supplier management, cost management, and NPS analysis.
- Develop and maintain self-audit programs to ensure robust process controls, compliance frameworks, and system reporting.
- Lead the integration of new catering systems including planning, UAT, user training, and deployment.
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff and suppliers on all system modules to ensure proper utilization and adoption.
- Drive the maintenance of the catering systems innovation roadmap, focusing on process optimization and alignment with industry best practices and corporate strategy.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Business, Computer Science, or relevant field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience managing IT systems, preferably in catering systems.
- Proficiency in catering management systems, enterprise software, and related IT tools.
- Experience in project management, system integration, and process optimization.
- Strong analytical skills, data governance expertise, and ability to translate business needs into system solutions.
- Experience in training development and delivery for staff and suppliers on system use.
- Ability to manage teams, vendors, and stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Experience in implementing automation initiatives, system troubleshooting, and continuous improvement projects.
- Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills to engage cross-functional teams.
