Job description
The Senior Solution Architect role is responsible for designing and governing resilient, secure, and scalable application architectures within banking and financial services domains. The position focuses on end-to-end solution design across backend, frontend, and mobile applications, operating within microservices and API-driven ecosystems on cloud-native and container-based platforms. The role develops and enforces architectural standards, patterns, and best practices while collaborating with Agile delivery teams operating in tribes and squads. It integrates cybersecurity and regulatory controls including PCI-DSS, UAE Central Bank requirements, and GDPR, embedding security-by-design principles such as data classification, encryption, authentication, authorization, threat modelling, and security monitoring. The role also evaluates and applies Artificial Intelligence technologies including Machine Learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models, Retrieval Augmented Generation, vector databases, and agent-based AI systems, while mentoring junior architects and supporting delivery excellence across multiple complex financial systems projects.

Key responsibilities
- Design and lead end-to-end solution architectures for banking, payments, accounting, and settlement systems
- Develop resilient, reliable, and secure application architectures using microservices and API-based ecosystems
- Define and maintain architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices
- Collaborate with Agile teams operating within tribes and squads and participate in Agile ceremonies
- Produce architectural deliverables including high-level designs, patterns, features, epics, stories, and acceptance criteria
- Design cloud-native and container-based solutions covering backend, frontend, mobile applications, APIs, event streams, and message brokers
- Evaluate and justify architectural design principles, patterns, and trade-offs
- Embed cybersecurity and regulatory controls including PCI-DSS, UAE Central Bank regulations, and GDPR
- Implement security mechanisms including authentication, authorization, encryption, data protection, and security event logging
- Apply threat modelling and security-by-design practices across solutions
- Assess and apply Artificial Intelligence technologies such as Machine Learning, Generative AI, LLMs, and RAG architectures
- Coach and mentor associate and junior architects and developers as required
- Balance delivery priorities across customer experience, performance, reliability, resiliency, and security
Experience & skills
- Extensive experience in banking, accounting, payments, or settlements domains
- Participation in or leadership of at least three solution architecture projects within microservices and API-based ecosystems
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing end-to-end application and solution architectures
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native, containerized, and distributed systems
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity controls, regulatory compliance, and threat modelling
- Experience working within Agile delivery models including tribes, squads, and sprint-based ceremonies
- Exposure to Artificial Intelligence technologies including Machine Learning and Generative AI
- Strong analytical thinking, stakeholder management, and autonomous decision-making capability
