Job description
The Associate Director, Investors Sales will be responsible for driving client engagement and sales growth within the Financial Institutions (FI) segment, focusing on non-bank entities including sovereign wealth funds, asset managers, pension funds, and insurance companies. Based in Dubai, the role involves managing a portfolio of sophisticated institutional investors, delivering tailored market products, and ensuring alignment with the bank's strategic and compliance objectives. The position demands advanced understanding of global markets, risk dynamics, and cross-border regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will foster deep client relationships and deliver structured market solutions while collaborating closely with global sales, trading, compliance, and coverage teams.

Key responsibilities
- Drive growth of the non-Bank Financial Institution business within the AME SIG & Investors Sales team, covering Sovereign Wealth Funds, Asset Managers, Pension Funds, and Insurance Companies.
- Support existing institutional client relationships and develop strategies to deepen engagement across multiple markets products.
- Actively coordinate across departmentsāMarkets Sales, Structuring, Compliance, Trading, and Client Coverageāto ensure strategic alignment and risk transparency.
- Manage a complex portfolio of high-value clients, delivering insights, structured products, and services tailored to institutional investor needs.
- Monitor, assess, and report on regulatory and compliance-related developments relevant to client transactions and risk exposures.
- Ensure all front-office disciplinesāaccount planning, client call reports, and deal pipeline managementāare accurately maintained and aligned to internal standards.
- Engage in proactive risk management to identify, assess, and escalate credit and market risks while ensuring they are mitigated according to Group policy.
- Support and ensure training and awareness on regulatory and policy updates within the sales team and wider front-office function.
- Maintain clear communication and collaboration with internal governance and control bodies on compliance matters.
- Promote and embody Standard Charteredās 'Here for Good' mission, embedding ethical conduct and group values across client and internal engagements.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 3ā5 years of experience in investment banking, financial markets, or institutional sales roles.
- University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications a plus.
- Strong understanding of FX, rates, macroeconomic trends, and financial product structures.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior institutional stakeholders.
- Track record of managing institutional investor relationships in a regulated, front-office environment.
- Strong grasp of risk management concepts, including credit, market, and operational risk.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks and regulatory standards applicable to institutional sales and trading.
- Ability to develop and execute sales strategies with measurable business impact.
- Proficiency in managing CRM platforms, sales reporting tools, and trade capture systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
