The Project Manager (Software Development and Service Operations) at Thales in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia operates within the Platforms Services & Delivery team, ensuring successful project completion aligned with customer requirements, timelines, quality specifications, and profitability objectives. The role involves managing end-to-end project lifecycle management, including project planning, execution, monitoring, and closure while maintaining the Project Execution baseline validated with the support of the SEM and approved by the Supervisory Authority. The Project Manager is responsible for delivering cost-effective, operationally efficient solutions while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and contributing to business growth. The position requires expertise in project management methodologies such as PMP and PRINCE2 Practitioner, along with strong use of Microsoft Project for project planning, monitoring, and reporting dashboards. Responsibilities include managing project risks, implementing change management processes, handling change requests, and leading bug review management to prioritize issue resolution based on customer requirements. The role involves financial management including cost management and revenue tracking, stakeholder management across Solution Manager, Project Delivery team, Technical Leaders, and Support & Maintenance team, and ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. The Project Manager also leads key governance activities such as Project Kick-off meetings, Project Reviews, Closure Reviews, Lessons Learned documentation, and maintaining a log document for chronological tracking of project events to support future claims. Additionally, the role includes preparing executive-level reporting dashboards for Senior Management (Supervisory Authority) to provide visibility on progress, risks, and forecasts. The position requires experience in software development or service operations industry, along with the ability to manage scope and requirements, build and monitor project plans, manage customer relationships, and oversee project costs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within sectors including aerospace, transportation, defence, security, and space.

Key responsibilities
- Drive project execution to ensure customer satisfaction by meeting deadlines, quality specifications, and profitability targets while leading customer interactions and delivering cost-effective and operationally efficient solutions
- Plan and manage the full project lifecycle including project planning, execution baseline validation, project monitoring, and closure while ensuring compliance with Project Execution baseline approved by the Supervisory Authority
- Manage financial aspects of projects including cost management and revenue management while providing accurate project progress visibility through reporting dashboards and forecasts to Senior Management
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks while implementing risk mitigation action plans and handling change management processes including change requests and bug review management aligned with customer priorities
- Coordinate stakeholder management and maintain communication with Solution Manager, Project Delivery team, Technical Leaders, Support & Maintenance team, customers, and project organization to ensure alignment and execution
- Lead governance activities including Project Kick-off meetings, Project Reviews, Closure Reviews, and obtaining Customer Acceptance of delivered solutions while documenting Lessons Learned and maintaining project log documentation
- Manage scope and requirements autonomously, build detailed project plans using Microsoft Project, monitor project status, and resolve issues while identifying new business opportunities
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting including preparation and maintenance of chronological log documents, dashboards, and compliance with Manage Project Process standards
Experience & skills
- Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in project management covering specification, design, and team management within software development or service operations industry environments
- Hold a recognized project management certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 Practitioner, demonstrating formal knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks
- Obtain an Engineer or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, ensuring strong technical foundation in software systems and service-based project environments
- Demonstrate proficiency in project planning, scope management, requirements management, and project lifecycle management, including the ability to build, monitor, and control project plans using Microsoft Project
- Exhibit strong expertise in financial management including cost management and revenue tracking, along with risk management and change management processes including handling change requests and bug review prioritization
- Show capability in stakeholder management and customer relationship management, maintaining effective coordination with Solution Manager, Project Delivery team, Technical Leaders, Support & Maintenance team, and customers
- Demonstrate fluency in both English and Arabic languages to support communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement within the regional project environment
- Possess the ability to travel as required to support project execution, stakeholder engagement, and operational requirements across different locations
