Job description
The Associate Director, Oil and Gas Above-Ground Risk Analyst – MENA Region role within S&P Global Energy is positioned in the E&P Terms and Above-Ground Risk team, an industry-leading research group providing analysis on above-ground issues impacting the hydrocarbon sector. The role supports oil and gas companies, governments, and financial investors by delivering actionable insights to inform upstream investment decisions, portfolio choices, and policymaking across the Middle East and North Africa region. The position focuses on forward-looking assessment of political, economic, regulatory, and other non-technical risks affecting upstream oil and gas operations and regional and country-level investment attractiveness. The role involves extensive collaboration with geologists, consultants, low-carbon initiative teams, and a global network of subject-matter experts, leveraging world-class datasets and internal and external trackers. The Associate Director contributes to understanding how above-ground risk dynamics interact with energy transition trends and a low-carbon world, supports engagement with regional governments to benchmark and help shape upstream policymaking, and works closely with clients through presentations and discussions. The role requires producing high-quality, client-focused research, maintaining and updating structured above-ground risk information, and delivering integrated research outputs that reflect shifts in the upstream investment environment across the MENA region. The position operates within S&P Global Energy, a division of S&P Global, which provides trusted data, benchmarks, and insights across energy and commodities markets, including Platts, CERA, Horizons, and Events, enabling informed decision-making in a rapidly changing global energy landscape.
