Job description
KPMG is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Associate for our ESG Assurance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, executing, and completing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) assurance engagements. This role involves working closely with clients to verify and ensure the accuracy of their ESG-related data, including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, sustainability metrics, and compliance with relevant standards and guidelines.

Key responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and complete ESG assurance engagements in accordance with ISAE 3000 and ISAE 3410 standards
- Collaborate with clients to understand their ESG reporting processes and systems
- Assess and verify client data related to GHG emissions, sustainability metrics, and other ESG-related information
- Ensure data accuracy and reliability through detailed analysis and verification processes
- Apply the GHG Protocols, including Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standards, to evaluate clients' emissions data
- Provide guidance to clients on improving their GHG accounting practices
- Ensure compliance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards for sustainability reporting
- Assist clients in enhancing their sustainability reporting frameworks to meet GRI requirements
- Evaluate green finance frameworks and provide assurance on compliance with the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) guidelines
- Advise clients on best practices for green finance and sustainable investment reporting
- Assess financed emissions in line with the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) guidelines
- Work with financial institutions to accurately measure and report their financed emissions
- Utilize IFRS and ISSB related experience to deliver high-quality engagements
- Provide insights and recommendations based on the latest developments in IFRS and ISSB standards
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field
- Advanced degree preferred
- Professional certification such as CPA, CA, or equivalent
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in ESG assurance, sustainability reporting, or related field
- In-depth knowledge of ISAE 3000, ISAE 3410, GHG Protocols, GRI standards, ICMA guidelines, and PCAF guidelines
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for data analysis and reporting
