Job description
Microsoft Azure Compute Platform is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Azure Core Compute team in Abu Dhabi. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining resilient, scalable systems that power Azure’s global infrastructure, enabling innovation for businesses worldwide. Engineers will collaborate across teams, apply distributed systems principles, and contribute to solutions that enhance the reliability and performance of Azure. Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Design and build resilient, scalable systems that enhance the reliability and availability of the Azure platform
- Apply distributed systems principles to solve complex engineering challenges with simplicity and clarity
- Collaborate across teams and disciplines to deliver end-to-end solutions for evolving customer needs
- Develop and maintain automation for monitoring, failover, and recovery processes
- Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response, and drive root cause analysis and long-term improvements
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 4+ years technical engineering experience coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python (6+ years preferred)
- Experience in building, shipping, and operating reliable distributed systems
- Experience developing software hosted in Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and other security screening requirements
