Job description
The Senior Manager ā Conduct Risk & Consumer Protection Management role is responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing strategies, policies and procedures aimed at mitigating conduct risk across the organization while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The mandate includes conducting regular conduct risk assessments, monitoring and analyzing potential risk areas across business units, managing conduct risk policies and ensuring they are effectively communicated and implemented, and preparing and presenting risk assessment and mitigation reports to senior management. Responsibilities involve ensuring regulatory compliance, designing and delivering training programs on conduct risk, and collaborating with legal, compliance, business and operational teams to establish a cohesive approach to conduct risk management. The consumer protection component requires a clear understanding of Consumer Protection Regulations and their implications for product and service governance. The role provides strategic and execution support regarding policy enhancements, new products, process development, consumer communications, monitoring and reporting, including submissions to senior management, the Board and the Central Bank of the UAE. It involves facilitating risk and incident identification, reporting and tracking, maintaining vigilance to identify potential regulatory breaches and reporting them within the Operational Risk Framework, and contributing to training and awareness programs for stakeholders in Retail Banking, CXCG, Credit and Operations. Duties include acting as the focal point for stakeholder engagement on regulatory matters across compliance, marketing, Shariāah governance, legal, risk and credit; providing consultative regulatory interpretation support; reviewing Consumer Protection checklists, policies and processes; collating and creating Consumer Protection reporting requirements; strengthening process, policy and governance structures related to Consumer Protection; analyzing consumer calls, contacts, feedback and complaints for root-cause identification; addressing barriers in products and services; identifying breaches of Consumer Protection requirements; improving consumer education, awareness and disclosure materials; and communicating Consumer Protection requirements and complaint management awareness at an organizational level. - Develop, implement and review conduct risk strategies and policies aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Conduct regular conduct risk assessments, monitoring and analysis across business units
- Develop and maintain conduct risk policies and procedures and ensure their communication and implementation across the organization
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies and prepare and present reports outlining risk assessments and mitigation strategies
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee awareness of conduct risk, ethical practices and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, business and operational teams to support a cohesive conduct risk management approach
- Interpret and apply Consumer Protection Regulations to meet governance requirements for products and services
- Provide strategic and execution support for policy enhancements, new products, process development, consumer communications, monitoring and reporting
- Support Consumer Protection-related risk and incident identification, reporting, governance, action planning and tracking across the Bank including non-UAE locations
- Remain vigilant and identify potential breaches of regulatory standards and report them within the Operational Risk Framework
- Participate in training and communication campaigns to raise Consumer Protection awareness among relevant stakeholders
- Serve as focal point for stakeholder engagement with Compliance, Marketing, Shariāah Governance, Legal, Risk and Credit teams on regulatory matters
- Provide consultative support to Retail Banking stakeholders on the interpretation of regulations and standards
- Regularly review Consumer Protection checklists, policies and processes including the Bankās Consumer Protection Policy
- Collate and create Consumer Protection regulatory reporting requirements for Senior Management, Board and regulatory submissions
- Collaborate with policy owners and divisions across the Bank to strengthen processes, policies and governance supporting Consumer Protection
- Analyze consumer calls, contacts, feedback and complaints to determine root causes and identify barriers within products and services
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorās Degree
- Demonstrate understanding of Consumer Protection Regulations and their governance implications
- Possess ability to develop, implement and review conduct risk strategies and policies
- Show capability in conducting risk assessments, monitoring and analysis within business units
- Be able to manage policies and procedures and ensure regulatory compliance
- Have strong ability to prepare and present reports to senior management
- Be capable of delivering training programs on conduct risk and regulatory requirements
- Exhibit strong collaboration skills across legal, compliance, business and operational teams
- Be able to identify regulatory breaches and report them within the Operational Risk Framework
- Demonstrate ability to analyze consumer feedback and complaints for root-cause identification and improvement opportunities
