Job description
The Duty Engineer at The Cove Rotana Resort in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, is responsible for overseeing daily operations, maintenance, and repairs of technical equipment and systems within the resort. The role ensures smooth functioning of machinery and equipment, minimizes downtime, and maintains operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include performing routine and preventive maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, conducting inspections to identify potential issues, coordinating specialized repairs with external contractors, maintaining detailed maintenance records, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and supervising and training junior maintenance staff. The position requires strong technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, general maintenance, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on machinery, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and resolve issues efficiently to minimize downtime
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and proactively address potential technical issues
- Coordinate with external suppliers and contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance tasks
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance
- Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with safety regulations and protocols
- Assist in training, supervising, and mentoring junior maintenance staff

Experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proven experience as a Duty Engineer or in a similar facilities maintenance role
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general machinery
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to handle emergencies and changing maintenance priorities
- Understanding of and adherence to workplace safety protocols
