Job description
The Vice President, Business Development, Travel – EEMEA role at Mastercard is a senior, client-facing leadership position within the EEMEA Merchant and Commerce team, responsible for driving transformative growth across the regional travel ecosystem. The role leads Mastercard’s commercial and go-to-market strategy for the travel vertical, covering airlines, hotel groups, online travel agencies, travel management companies, and travel-related technology companies, with the objective of delivering profitable revenue growth, increased spend, enhanced engagement, retention, and long-term market share expansion. The position shapes Mastercard’s relevance in the travel industry through thought leadership, embedded payments, digital innovation, co-brand programs, and strategic enterprise partnerships. The role requires ownership and scaling of revenue portfolios, negotiation and oversight of complex multi-year partnership agreements, identification of new commercial opportunities across the travel value chain, and orchestration of matrixed, cross-functional teams across regions. The Vice President strengthens Mastercard’s brand through executive-level storytelling and C-suite influence, leads and develops high-performing teams with a focus on accountability, inclusion, and growth, and ensures compliance with Mastercard’s corporate security responsibilities, including adherence to information security policies, confidentiality and integrity of data, breach reporting, and completion of mandatory security training.

Key responsibilities
- Own the go-to-market and revenue strategy for a portfolio of high-impact travel clients including global airlines, hotel chains, and digital travel intermediaries across EEMEA
- Negotiate, structure, and oversee complex multi-year partnership and enterprise deals in collaboration with travel revenue, distribution, technology, and customer experience leaders
- Identify and evaluate new commercial opportunities across the travel value chain using Mastercard’s payments and beyond-payments capabilities
- Design and deliver differentiated programs that drive spend growth, increased revenue yield, customer engagement, and retention
- Lead and orchestrate matrixed, cross-functional teams across regions and functions to ensure seamless execution of strategic initiatives
- Strengthen Mastercard’s brand positioning as a trusted strategic partner to the travel industry through executive-level influence and storytelling
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams with a focus on accountability, inclusion, and professional growth
- Translate strategic priorities into actionable growth plans delivering near-term results and long-term enterprise value
- Build and maintain C-level relationships with travel ecosystem partners and senior internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with Mastercard’s information security policies, confidentiality requirements, breach reporting procedures, and mandatory security training obligations
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate extensive senior-level commercial experience within airlines or the broader travel industry
- Show proven success in owning and scaling multi-million-dollar P&Ls and negotiating high-impact partnership agreements
- Exhibit ability to influence and engage C-level clients and senior stakeholders in complex, matrixed environments
- Demonstrate strong analytical capability with understanding of P&L drivers, business case development, and performance forecasting
- Show experience leading cross-regional teams and executing initiatives across multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrate a track record of developing talent, fostering inclusion, and leading high-performing teams
