Job description
To provide visionary and skilled leadership in 21st century learning innovation. The role involves promoting a culture of kindness and innovation, collaborating with school leaders and departments, organizing professional learning, integrating innovation into pedagogy, managing instructional resources, and occasionally teaching technology-related classes such as Robotics. The Head of Technology & Innovation also acts as a liaison on GEMS initiatives and helps shape the digital transformation agenda across the school.

- Model and encourage a culture of kindness.
- Provide dynamic leadership for development and evaluation of the innovation program.
- Collaborate with school leaders, IT and instructional technology staff.
- Lead professional learning opportunities and initiatives in innovation.
- Identify and apply pedagogical frameworks for innovation.
- Support integration of innovative practices in teaching and learning.
- Document and share innovative teaching practices.
- Engage the wider community in innovation-related initiatives.
- Promote classroom transparency and collaborative teaching practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies for potential classroom use.
- Coordinate with IT on device deployments and digital platforms.
- Encourage student participation in innovation activities and competitions.
- Plan and administer a school-wide professional development program.
- Collaborate to publicize resources and events for staff development.
- Assist with preparation of annual operating budget related to innovation and technology.
- Coordinate requests for MakerSpace and Robotics lab use.
- Teach technology-related classes such as Robotics as needed.
- Represent AKIS in GEMS network innovation initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Experience & skills
- Masterās degree with coursework emphasis in teaching and educational/instructional technology.
- Bachelorās or Masterās degree in Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, STEM Education or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a similar role.
- Successful leadership and organizational skills in educational technology.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to implementing 21st century learning skills.
- Ability to plan initiatives and provide comprehensive solutions.
- Experience in innovation-focused teaching and curriculum planning.
- Familiarity with GEMS Education values and safeguarding standards.
